Id like to stop and give a moment to the victims of the horrendous fires we are facing at the moment in victoria and melbourne, and the families who have lost everything but the clothes on their back, and to those who have also lost family members.
Arsonists would have to be the cruelest and sickest criminals of all and I know that they WILL BE CAUGHT.
Lets hope the fires become undercontrol soon.
And I want to give a mighty thanks to the men behind the scenes, the firefighters, who voluneer their time and efforts tirelessly...

My feelings are with the victims and their families.. 
Hope the situation to get undercontrol very soon.
Every criminal is cruel.. and should be caught and punished..

we were very lucky. I live in bendigo and the fires here were only 2 klms from my back yard. 50 houses were destroyed and the fire was deliberately lit. They will catch the bastards who lit these fires and when they do i hope they get their just desserts
in prison.

Glad to see you. I wish all had the same fortune.
But why they lit fires? Had they any specific demand or just for destruction?
The law should be harsh and more tormenting for criminals..

I hope they find the people/person responsible if it was indeed arson and barbecue his balls...this is really sad to hear how some of these people died.

Jafo's early prediction is, unfortunately, coming true...more than 200 fellow humans dying in a terrible way.
I don't want any "mercy" shown to the perpetrators of the arson.
I also think they'll find it pretty hard to find a sympathetic jury....although I would object to them calling it a jury of their peers (I do know that doesn't mean fellow arsonists...but just the thought turns my stomach).

Arson should be classified as terrorism.
The penalties should match.
It was only fairly 'recently' that the max sentence was raised from 2 years to 15.
Frankly I'd have it at 15 minimum....per death ....and NOT concurrent.

I agree with all of this ...with the addition of 'extremely hard labor' during incarceration.

Their cells should have heat under floor and in their brick bunk set to high and unable to be turned off.

I say when the next brush fire starts and gets out of control...dropped these idiots out of a plane right into the middle of it. Jail would be to good...they deserve to die...period.

Is there a death penalty in Australia?
I mean regarding the perpetrators of mass murder....not the victims who have received the death sentence for merely being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
