Xion Skinning Question.

I can break them with ease, without even trying.

Friday, January 23, 2009 by HG_Eliminator | Discussion: Skinning

I have been editng Xion skins lately to fit my needs, but when I do Hue adjust the images and Save as a PSD, the animations or atleast some of them stop working. RecentlyI tried editing the Hues in this skin. <a href=http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=clipboard1sg4.jpg" title="Click here for full size!" target="_blank"><img src="http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/6818/clipboard1sg4.jpg"></a>

Which came off as I wanted, But the Animated turntables no longer rotate and Stylus arms no longer move across the Vinyl. Im using paint.net to edit the images and have tried saving compressed, as well as non compressed. Is there somthing Im Missing?

Ive read every thing I can find and just cant seem to fiure out what im breaking. I do not change the order of the layers or names of the images, nor change the visibility, just simply adjust the hue and save.

I ended up using GIMP for XION editing instead of paint.net.  Paint had too many anomolies.

Ya, it's paint.net causing the problem.  I thought Cliff had said something about paint not working proper.

Ahh ok thanks guys.. Il retry Gimp tho I think last time I tried it it wouldnt allow me to recolor the individual layers with Hue.

Tried it with gimp and was able to adjust the hues with it.. but it saved with the same issues, while the vu meters all work, the Vinly and stylus no longer move..

GIMP (and I would imagine Paint.net) totally tears apart the layer sets when you open a  Xion skin. I understand that layer sets are needed for the animations to work, and GIMP will not do those.

Xiandi is right, it´s the missing (or wrong) layer set structure of GIMP and Paint.net which makes them incompatible with Xion... It´s a well known problem, but there have been issues discussed (and solved) on the Xion forum afair...
