I'm sure this will be met with some measure of controversy...
I am saddened to see any child die, I empathize with the true innocent's that have perished in not only this war but all the other futile conflicts.
...but....frankly I've had it up to my ears listening to radical advocates spouting off about their children being killed, parading photos around as if THEY had had no stake in what led up to the event.
I believe that radical islam is on its way to destroying our planet. When your putting weapons in the hands of, or strapping bombs to.. your young men..you have lost any and all claim to being a civilized people and imo merit zero sympathy.
When I look at the faces, in the photo's, I am hard pressed to find ONE face that isn't in some form portraying evil or anger, They don't want peace, they care nothing about truces or diplomacy, they don't cherish or celebrate life.
It is a disease, a drug that is slowly but very surely speading accross our planet, I personally don't see anyway it can be stopped.
I am loathed to think about raising my own children in the current world climate. Sure there are many more forces at work, but I believe the single most significant threat to the west in the years to come is keeping this evil at bay.
Some of you I'm sure will invoke Isreali \ Western agrression, warmongering, ideology, any number of reasons why it's not their fault... I think thats BS.
Look at the images, do you see peace seekers? Children of God?..
I see pure evil.

The better solution to a firing squad would be for their water supplies to be contaminasted with happy pills so they all throw down their rockets and guns... or alternatively put in sleeping pills so that while they're asleep we can go in and remove all their weapons.
I've always figured a better way would be to send in some sneeky rascals to kidnap the leaders of movements, dope them up with hallucinogens, have our best actors take on the role of whatever deity that movement adheres to, and act out that deity instructing that movement;s leader that they read the rules the wrong way, and they need to change the path their on to one of nonviolence, then restore the leader to the place they found him as if nothing happened. At the very least it's an interesting experiment that shouldn't cost us $410 million a day! I don't understand why doping isn't used in place of waterboarding. Under physical duress, a person will say anything -- trippin' out of their mind, it's all what their subconscious believes.

Spot on! And that's why Bush f**ked up big time when he decided to invade Iraq. First off, he didn't understand Iraqi demographics or the volatile nature of the religious and cultural differences within the populace... hence the anarchy and rise in terrorist activities since the invasion. I applaud what President Talibani and Prime Minister Maliki are trying to do in uniting the Iraqi people, but sadly, when the US withdraws, Iraq will erupt in civil war and another 'Saddam' will rise to power.
Iraq needed to resolve its own issues and evolve in its own way, without outside intervention... and hopefully, those who all think they are the World's policemen will learn from that and stay out of the Israeli Palestinian conflict. These two peoples need to sort this thing out for themselves... because an enforced peace through intervention would only be an artificial peace that would not last once the occupational forces withdrew.
We may not agree with the violence, politics or religious beliefs in the World's trouble spots, but that does not give us the right to invade, set up occupational forces and ram 'so-called' democracy down their throats. It serves only to build resentment and to exacerbate the problem through those who 'patriotically' refuse to accept it and fight back with whatever means they can... which is why George Bush is a total mug for invading Iraq. He opened a bloodier can of worms nobody knows how to close.

I don't know if you missed my posts where I state my son fought in the Iraq war, but that IS bombs filled with nails and ball bearings going off at the mall where my children hang out! I LIVED 18 months of close calls, used up all the luck I ever had because the kid in front of him was sent back in little pieces but he missed it by a fraction of an inch, and hearing about the near rape about took everything out of me that I had. If it was ON my doorstep, at least I could have participated -- living 18 months with my heart outside of my chest on foreign soil, while I lived impotent in my own household is a hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, but I know a lot of valiant people endure every day.
I didn't go crying to anyone. I took it one day at a time, dealt with the crap I had in my own daily life, took my antidepressants regularly and it worked out okay for me.
We have enough stuff RIGHT HERE that needs our attention. We don't need to go looking for more stuff to be enraged about.
That's true. But you can't beat it by joining it, either.

By your line of reasoning, Karen one cannot actively oppose a killer who is bent on your death by killing him in self defense?
You must not have thought that through:
Dispatching the person who is bent on your death is not "joining it".
It's ending it.

I know WHY you are saying what you're saying, but I think there is another way of stopping it besides extermination. Current regimes and governments, unfortunately, are not willing to think outside the box for the answers, though. They're making too much money, and becoming too powerful, doing it the old fashioned way.
You must not have thought that through:
Dispatching the person who is bent on your death is not "joining it".
I just think there has got to be another way of dispatching killers besides killing them first. Obviously, killing them only turns them into martyrs, which only spurs on more killing. Starkers is right...we need to start deploying chemical weapons of a different type (i.e., "Happy pills").

Me neither but living in denial doesn't exist to me. Problems need to be discussed until all perspectives are exhausted whether it hurts to think and discuss or not. We will continue to destroy ourselves as long as people continue to ignore their part of the problem.
Actually, the intenet is the closest you will ever come to "One world". Just look at the possibilities and you'll see that the internet is they way to cure things. This is the first step to world peace if we can keep ourselves alive long enough to see some changes.

This is ignorance and a lack of will of seeing both sides of the coin.... this IS the american way.
Im not saying palestinians are correct and israel are certainly not doing all good things..... 80% of that wall they built is on palestinian land encircling good soil for growing.... there are US funded motorways across palestinian land where palestinians are not allowed... sure the suicide bombs have decreased with 96% since the wall came up. Israel sold weapons and trained the burma junta that now is is killing monks..... SO both are wrong in their doings..... aaaahhh crap NT now you made me write this stuff crap crap crap

I believe this is the community thread, 1 in 10 posts here might be about skinning, it's one of my dislikes about WC recently, It's not like I don't come here for art , skinning too, but I feel passionate about other things too. It's not a mystery why there's war in the middle east... The reason for *all* current conflicts there is europe and the US. There are a number of reasons, which I won't dig deeply into here. I'll just say it's oil, religion, politics and borders... All where the "civilized" world (talking about us here, the rich countries in europe and the US) play a HUGE part in maintaining the unstability.
In the end of world war II, europeans and americans felt sorry for the jews (for good reason). So we decided to "give back" their country to them and created a country called Israel... How convenient... Problem solved?? No.. Because neither europeans or americans actually LIVE in the middle east... How'd you feel if someone who doesn't even live in the same country as you do came and pulled a line through your home saying it's some new country? How long would you think it was ok to fight against the injustice? 2 weeks? 2 months? 5 years? The rest of your life? Now consider that this was done in a WAY larger scale, millions of people were affected, and lots of them forced to move from the homes they lived in all their life...
Add to that 50 years of european and american cash and weapons fed to the "appropriate" faction of the month... As far as I know, ALL the major terrorist organisations in the world have been receiving funding from america and europe...
The thing is, this is just a tiny bit of what's been done in the middle east to "maintain order". I'm not at all surprised that there is war there, what surprises me is the fact that people actually think people there are pissed off for no reason.
When you look beyond what you WANT to see, you'll notice that pretty much nothing in the world is as it first seem to be.
I don't see evil, I see great injustice... And I *know* who to blame for it.
I don't think it's OK for them to act the way they do... But really, it's been 50 years, and we still just shrug and send in the bombs when things get too tight...

agree but WC is linked to JoeUser. Perhaps the post sghould have been catagorized differently but it only takes but 2 seconds to clcik the x button in the corner of your montior if the subject isn't of interest to you. Suggesting others don't discuss subjects that you are indifferent to is a bit..... backwards dontcha think?
The connection between WC and Joeuser apparently isn't going away. I have gotten used to it and I don't believe there to be a limit to what can and cannot be discussed. Anyone for a good abortion chat? 
Do people that just don't give a damn at all ever feel guilt associated to their selfishness and lack of heart? Do they really go through hell on their deathbed? I would really like to know because the battle is human nature, not over land, gods, money, futbol,soccer matches, property lines, shoes, etc. ????

Alright i will take your suggestion, but something i feel strongly about is the ignorance you are showing here... feeding what i belive more hate and bad feelings.. instead of understanding, like why are they waving those photos why are they using guns.. why is this hate being spread... the truth is not a single conflict its human nature try to change that instead of being shortsighted and start blaming palestinians

Im sure there are many reasons for people being 'pissed off' Regardless, none of these reasons justify strapping on bombs and walking onto a bus full of civilians or tieing up a woman and drilling holes in the top of her head with a powertool.
It never helps to say "i'f we'd only done this or that, If we hadn't etc etc"
All that is doing, is fueling the fire, telling them, it's ok, you can murder your, our children because of what has happened in the past.
At some point the HATE has to stop.
