Why it will never end.

Sigh.

I'm sure this will be met with some measure of controversy...

I am saddened to see any child die, I empathize with the true innocent's that have perished in not only this war but all the other futile conflicts.

...but....frankly I've had it up to my ears listening to radical advocates spouting off about their children being killed, parading photos around as if THEY had had no stake in what led up to the event.

I believe that radical islam is on its way to destroying our planet. When your putting weapons in the hands of, or strapping bombs to.. your young men..you have lost any and all claim to being a civilized people and imo merit zero sympathy.

When I look at the faces, in the photo's, I am hard pressed to find ONE face that isn't in some form portraying evil or anger, They don't want peace, they care nothing about truces or diplomacy, they don't cherish or celebrate life.

It is a disease, a drug that is slowly but very surely speading accross our planet, I personally don't see anyway it can be stopped.

I am loathed to think about raising my own children in the current world climate. Sure there are many more forces at work, but I believe the single most significant threat to the west in the years to come is keeping this evil at bay.

Some of you I'm sure will invoke Isreali \ Western agrression, warmongering, ideology, any number of reasons why it's not their fault... I think thats BS.

Look at the images, do you see peace seekers? Children of God?..

I see pure evil.

Scientists once believed the world was flat. Til further research shown different. As the data changed, so did the theory

i was quite drunk when i wrote that.. but it still stands.... so do you believe more data will come around to prove that the earth isnt round? do you wait for it?... i will stay round until something changes (like the sun dies or we blow it to pieces ) its a fact. Same as there isnt any adam or eve in the religous fashion that started the human race... eve made from a rib come on.... Anyone that isnt crazy can, if they want, see that religion is mostly fiction. The hard part is that this fiction is often blended with events or persons that where real.. thats how people can justify their faith.

IMO!

As far as our senses and the devices suited to our senses (bias) tell us.

Same as there isnt any adam or eve in the religous fashion that started the human race... eve made from a rib

The Creation of Eve

G-d went down to Eden to see how Adam was getting on.

"What do you think of life Adam?" asked G-d.
"Well" said Adam, "It's quite hard work and a little boring and, well, just a little lonely too".

"Don't worry" declared G-d, "I've been working on a solution to all these problems. I'm going to create a 'Woman'. She'll wash and cook for you and she'll have sex with you whenever you want. In fact, she'll do everything you can imagine".

"That sounds great" said Adam, "but how much will this 'Woman' cost me?"

"She won't be cheap: An arm and a leg" answered G-d.

"That sounds a bit steep..... what can I get for a rib?" Adam asked.......the rest is history.

Peace to you, dear "thread nemesis". I bet the characteristics of exchanged words would be totally different with another subject matter.

I'm so relieved Adam was frugal!  I'd really hate to have to suppress my urge to do those things my man CAN'T imagine!

I read the very first part of the original post and thought I would chime in a bit.

Everyone's reality is based on their perception of the world around them, you see what you see and base your version of values & truths on that.  Other people see things differently and also base their values, beliefs & truths on their personal perception of reality.  It is quite possible that if we lived on the other side of the planet as the people in question in the picture that was included with the post, we would believe in something totally different.  It's quite possible that living in pain for such a long time, people associate who they think the guilty party is (and it's always someone other than themselves) and believe that this is the real truth, again based on their own personal perception of this.  Everyone has different opinions and since everyone's opinions vary greatly from topic to topic, it's quite possible that it may be impossible to actually see the truth or possibly to painful to accept the truth.  Because of this the result is blame someone else for their pain & current reality and the cycle continues over & over again: more pain, different views of the "truth" and it doesn't get any better.

I'm not saying that the situation overseas & locally with regards to war, terrorism, etc. is pleasing (not at all) but I can't believe that all these people (overseas & locally) are evil.  We all start out as children (pure & innocent) and learn the "truth" (the local version to us that is available & popular) and form our beliefs & lives around this.  I'm sure they have forums at their end discussing how evil the western hemisphere is, how north america and the united states in particular is very bad & evil and how we are ruining the planet much the same way this & many other similar conversations go when we discuss the other side of the planet.

Honestly I don't see a solution to any of this anytime soon but I can't imagine that there will never be a resolution to any of these problems - I prefer to believe in the good in everyone instead of focusing on the bad.  I believe if you had the chance to speak with a parent on that side of the planet and discuss the welfare of your children, you would find you had many things in common: you want your children to grow up safe and have families of their own one day.

If you can find one thing in common, it's quite possible you may be able to find other things in common and we may discover that we aren't so different after all.

I remember reading some where that they think the earth is more oval shaped, another said the earth was constantly changing shape as pressures molded the surface. All speculative but still theories.

Come on now you are just nitpicking it isnt likely that someone soon would go "Ouups i just discovered the earth is shaped like a banana go figure!!" (wheres that dancing banana emoticon when you need it)

That i can go with.... but instead of g-d can we call him Fred? and hes a borg trader?

You got me, I figure this one out.  So many meanings to many of the words to translate word by word.

I always wanted to learn another language aside from a couple of years of obligatory French.  Too late now.  I think it's harder too when the alphabet is so different.  Oy, a mind was a terrible thing to waste.  I'm such a shlimazel.

LOL. Before I lived in Israel I knew no Hebrew at all. Now I speak it as well as I speak English....at one time with no accent at all. Used to count, do arithmetic and dream in Hebrew....did Med School in it, come to think of it....and my M.D. Thesis in Hebrew as well.

Right...and how many people were there that believed the world was flat before Columbus sailed? More than 2 or 3 no?

Now although I agree with the point your getting at I'd just like to point out that the Greeks and many major civilisations that were around at there time of Science knew the world was spherical from simple science they conduted from the safety of their own country, way before columbusw was even born. It was after the collapse of these great civilisations that we forgot what we once knew and then required a man to go and sail round the planet to rediscover it. And tbh we have the church to thank for forgetting this (although they did help us build more covs. but now weve grown out of church nannies. So byw.)

cause they are raised from birth to hate. They don't decide at 8 years old that they have been oppressed. They may be carrying a gun but they want to be holding an xbox controller.

Quite right. So its for the sake of these children aswell as for our own safety that we are going to rescue them from all those extremists that are putting them in such danger. Unfortunately though, when a kid is shooting you you have to shoot back to save yourself.

Drj, people are going to find a million and one reasons to persuade you that someone who is hell bent on killing you ...isn't... or it's not their fault, or we're all to blame...

meanwhile... they are that much closer to killing you.. or someone else.

The saddest and bitterest part of that is that it's completely true.

AND:

It's "Why it will never end."

Unless we wall all these conflicts off, demolish trade and make sure their only way of survival is through working together. Then once they have learnt how people get on we can demolish the walls, throw a party and get on with our lives. - Its what we do to our children when they dont get on, so it can be adapted to fit this situation.
