A windowblind that looks just like Windows 95 or 98 or Me or XP classic in order to run dreams as simply switching to classic mode in vista stops dreams running.

oh I see... hmmm... there used to be some very basic ones... back in the day... let me see if I can find something from the WB 1.x days... it will be very basic though...

so I looked and found a few old skins that resemble classic in some ways... they work ok... but you will have to difine a start menu for them, and custom colors are pretty limited... also it helps to have classic mode on when you switch to these skins, windowblinds has a lot of problems because of the missing start menus...
Remember these were for WB1.0 so you need to define a taskbar for them... I got them to work on my system with Vista right now, they worked fine... let me know what you think... I'll see if I can find anything better.... but I probably won't....

This is a windowblinds 2.0 skin, and I tested it, it runs fine on vista and wb6.0 start menu worked fine, accept the user icon is misplaced, this is the best one so far, just follow these instructions for downloading it...
For those who can't use this skin, it's because it was submitted the way wincustomize used to be set up - the description, preview image, and zip file inside a master sip file. Just save the downloaded zip somewhere, and open it. Inside you will find another zip file, which contains the actual UIS info and skin. I think you can just save this zip into your Windowblinds program directory and install it as usual from the WindowBlinds dialog. I hope the batch files still work, too. This was designed for WB 2 running on Win9x; I haven't tried it on 2000/XP. Please be sure to read the Readme file inside the skin's zip file (inside the master zip that you download).

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to look into this . The 98 skin I cannot get to work at all and I don't know how to define a taskbar apologies for my ignorance in these matters, I will keep playing until I screw my system up again LOL
EDIT OK I have got win 98 to load after downloading winrar but it stops Dreams from playing and thete is blank menu for wallpapers etc as does Dp0s99 the other one works ok but is not really what I was after.

I don't think you need a skin.
Right click on your desktop. Choose Personalize. Then choose "Theme." Set your theme to "Windows Classic."

That will not allow dreams to play it has to be with Aero (then use windowblinds)

under the windowblinds settings tab there is an option that says "ignore the taskbar defined, and select your own" or something like that ... select a taskbar from a modern vista skin, I'm thinking "classic" will work out, and with one of those task bars running the dreams should work again, hope this helps....
sorry I couldn't be more help... but I am still looking for an answer...
