Does anybody know a solution to the problem of the screensaver coming on while playing a DVD or audio file in windows media player 11....i have scoured the internet for hours searching for a solution with no avail except: turn off the screensaver.

i dont want to turn off the screensaver cause i like what i have. does anybody know of a fix or a solution to this problem...if so PRETTY PLEASE HELP driving me insane  to have it come on every 20 mins while in the middle of a movie.

Again...i dont want to turn off the should work...and yes i tried the options and setting it to "not allow while in playback"...but that doesn't work....please help!!!!! someone!!!...i will pay!!!

Why don't you just set the time on the screen saver  to come on in 4 hours.

Right click desktop..screensaver.. settings.

Just turn off the screen saver while you are playing a DVD or audio file, it's easy enough to turn back on.

I am curious though, why don't you want to turn the screen saver off and then on again?

Open Media Player

Go to Options

Click on Player tab

Un-check Allow Screen Saver During Playback

I have to agree, that's a much better option then turning off and on the screen saver.

lmao...those are the solutions i have already heard...first i dont want to shut off the screensaver because i SHOULDN'T have to...its supposed to over ride it through media player....i SHOULD be able to set it and forget it...thats the way it has always worked before...if an APP has a function...dont you think it should work all the time...if i have to manually shut it off and then back on then whats the since in having the over ride in media player options...i just want it to work like it always has before today... i will try a system restore but if that doesnt work then i kinda wanna know if there is a way to fix it. i am a pretty knowledgeable person when it comes to computers...thanx for all your input folks but once again does anybody know how to FIX this issue in media player

Well, if it had worked before then there is only one possible reason it is no longer working, a MS update changed something.  You might want to check into that.  It has happen before where MS did an update and it messed up some funtions.

too get a little off topic, screensavers with todays monitors are basically redundant, especially with LCD's. the only true way to "save" your screen when your not using the computer is to switch it off. apart from that, most screensavers are designed to switch on after a certain amount of time with no mouse movement. so unless your actually williing to change the time settings or turn the SS off completely i suggest every now and then moving your mouse

I scoured the internet on this one myself some time ago, and it seems to only be a problem with Media Player 11.  Nobody has an answer for it.  WMP-11 is incompatible with DVD viewing all the way through with a screensaver set, from what I can tell.  My work-around was to just watch my movies through a different player (personal favorite is DivX).  Another answer would be to remove Media Player 11 and revert back to Media Player 10.

ok folks...i just did a system restore and it was an nvidia driver update that caused the sure some of you have had this happen to you before...i had went through all the steps first to resolve the to options in media player and swithching the "turn off allow screensaver while media player is running" off and then back on and that failed...i also changed my group policies to "disable while media player running" off but that didnt work either...however like i said i restored to earlier today before the driver was installed and this seemed to in closing i'd like to say thanx to all who tried to help...i appreciate it folks, you all have a lovely evening
