Complete overhaul?

Is there a combo that can give us a completely new UI look and feel such as something like the fly-out menus in Dark Space?

Greetings,

I've had the complete package for a while but haven't really messed with it much except for some deskscapes and the occassional use of a skin.

I'm curious if anybody has been able to put something together that gives us a whole new feel to Windows (I'm on Vista) to make it sleek, simplified and futuristic.

I'm browsing the DesktopX themes so perhaps I'll find it for myself but so far these seem to be icons / wallpapers.

Thanks for any feedback.

Cheers.

Take a close look at Object Desktop.  Don't know how I managed to survive without it...

There are hundreds if not thousands of wonderful visual styles (skins) and then you can always use Right Click skins, widgets etc. to customize your desktop to almost anything you could want.  Take a look through the screen shots gallery and see what others have put together using available components.  It takes a bit of work yes, but you get what you want and have the fun of making it your own.  Good luck.

Take a closer look at DX Themes. They are far,far more than simply icons and wallpapers and can completely transform your desktop. There is more of a learning curve than using WindowBlinds but the results are well worth it.I rarely use my PC without one being loaded.

My thought on that:WindowBlinds are make-up,DesktopXThemes are a face transplant.

There is always someone here at WC to help if you need it or have questions,so dive right in.

Take a look at PDJ (PeterDudeJim) stuff on DX Themes. He ca get pretty radical in his alterations of oatmeal windows.

His work (imo) is also quite esthetically pleasing.

There are a lot of directions you can go.

One of my favorites ways is just to use ObjectDock Plus, hide the Windows Taskbar, and use different variations to make the desktop look and work much different than before.

This is a quick example of how I use it.
