Google's Chrome Browser

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 by DrJBHL | Discussion: Internet

Hi! A happy (maybe not for Mozilla or M$) post:

The long rumored Google Chrome Browser (Beta) release is supposed to be today (read it in several posts/blogs on the net)!

Attached a vid of it...hope it works! I don't know if I'll give up my FF3 so quickly, and in general I'm really wary of Betas, but this looks interesting.

One thing is certain: Google's going to be collecting a heck of a lot of data on folks and their browsing habits, and as we all know,
"Information is power."

And on another happy note, a gift to my friends here at WC: 10 super fun add ons to Google Earth!

(sorry, the WWW thing wouldn't work and neither would the smiley!)

@ #40 Dr Jo...

I always suspected George Dubbya had an immature  juveneile inside just bustin' to get out.... now I have proof.

As for inside the van... NO!  Inside there's a bunch of 'Men in Black' rejects... you know, black suits and dark glasses, etc.... but I can see why Will Smith refused to work with 'em. They've got flashing Google logos on their lapels.... and that would have driven the aliens so far underground, not even the far reaching tentacles of Google Chrome would've found 'em.

Have a good one bud!

Thanks Doc.... despite one or two ailments I generally do.  I figure it's a case of mind over matter... if I don't mind it don't matter... well not as much.

Pixeleo
Try Google Picasa. In my opinion, it's the best thing Google created after the search engine.

Google didn't create Picasa, they acquired it from another company and kept it going.  I prefer Windows Live Photo Gallery.

My biggest complaint about pic album apps is when they take up way too much screen space away from the pics.

Picasa is nice but has several fatal fails when it comes to photo management:

1. Can't rename filenames when downloading from the camera

2. No image resizing

An article on ZDnet appeared with Chrome Vulnerabilities.

For those interested, the link is: http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1847   Sorry but the link thingy wasn't working...you might have to 'copy and paste' to your browser.

Yeah, but do us older folk have time to read such an epic piece?

I mean, we're supposed to have 4 score and 10 years... and at 55 I dunno if I'd get to finish it... even in shorthand.

And that don't include all the sneaky underhanded stuff it does behind the scenes when it phones home.  Now that'd be a tome to out-rival War & peace... just hope the writer procreates so future genearations can finish it.

And while they're wasting their time, I'm pointing and laughing

Orright, so you found me out... but if I study the pictures long enough I can more or less make out what the words say.
