Stardock is pleased to announced the release of CursorFX 2.01 today. CursorFX is an application that lets users easily change their Windows cursors to one of thousands available for download. These can range from simple mouse cursors, to cursors with very detailed graphics and animations. CursorFX also includes a powerful, yet easy to use, editor in which you can create your own cursors which you can use on your own, or share with others.
What's new in version 2.01:
- Sounds on mouse event embeddable into themes
- New Ghost Trail effect
- Main User Interface updated
- Theme Editor UI updated
CursorFX is available in both a free version, and a Plus version which adds many additional features like on-click special effects, transparency, cursor resizing, and much more. CursorFX Plus is $19.95 and there are discounts available for Object Desktop subscribers, and previous users of CursorXP Plus.

What other applications do you have installed? We have not seen this here. What anti-virus specifically?

What version of CursorFX? 2.01? We cannot reproduce on Windows XP with 2.01.

Almost everything in the ODNT arsenal and OD free,minus SKS.I had AVG, now Avast and this problem occurred with both.No active anti-spy in use,only WindowsDefender.It's almost like a timer,20-22 days and the control panel is toast.I have Belarc if you need more info.Just let me know.As stated,I didn't request support since it's free,but I'll gladly help troubleshoot it.
I uninstalled,but reinstalled the same dl from last night,I'll get a fresh one.
I show v2.00 installed>I will now uninstall it through Impulse,reinstall it and see what I get.Thanks,Zargon.
Update:Uninstalled,ran ccleaner,rebooted.Dl'd CFX from here>https://www.stardock.com/products/cursorfx/downloads.asp
I got this>File version-2.0.0.0- 7/9/08-14.2Mb.Reinstalled and rebooted.
The CFX control panel "About"says it is 2.01.Impulse says it is 2.00 with an available update.
Fyi,OD Free was placed in My Desktop tab by Impulse.CFX I had added manually,before this update.That may be why I had two.ODFree allowed an updateonce before,CFX asks for a reg#.
Is there any way to get 2.01.014 or show CFX as installed properly? TIA

This has been resolved. Please redownload the standalone installer. Thanks for the heads up.

On reinstall,Impulse now shows the correct version #2.01.014 with no update available.Verifying the install still gives the "...is not installed correctly.Look for application updates" error.
I just checked all apps:
CursorFX= NIC
DesktopX= NIC
LogonStudio Vista= NIC
ObjectDock= NIC
SoundPackager= NIC
DeskScapes= NIC(expected,the update 2.00.058 is ignored,it kills DS completely)
MyColors= NIC
ObjectBar= NIC
ThemeManager= NIC
NIC=Not installed correctly.
I have show pre-release versions checked.There are no updates pending except as mentioned above.That's 9 out of 15 apps not installed correctly. (
I'll give CFX another go,and see if it still locks up.I don't really want to give up on it,it does add to the whole desktop theme.

With the update does CFX+ now support user alteration (size, color, transparency, etc) that provides a user the ability to 'save' changes to a cursor set and recall them later without having to re-tailor a preferred cursor set every time the system, or an update, burps or they want to preview a new cursor set?
It gets really tiring having to re-do some thing as simple as a cursor set all the time on top of having to keep up with every thing else that seems to keep going wrong...

Impulse should not show both of them. Please uninstall and make sure you are installing the latest 2.01 build.
