How to create IconPackages

Sunday, June 22, 2008 by jlfarfan | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Hi there! I have a set of PNG icons and want to use them with iconpackager, but I don't know how. Is there any tutorial about it. Also, if someone can tell what size to assign them, it will be great.

Hi, you can use Stardock's IconDeveloper to convert your PNG's to icons, then IconPackager to assign the individual icons to the desired app/position. You shouldn't need to worry about size because IconDeveloper assigns that for you, all you need to do is tick the "Vista Ready" and "all others" boxes to get icons for XP and Vista.

I haven't seen a tutorial for IconDeveloper, as yet, but it is pretty straightforward and easy enough to figure out... well if I managed it, I'm sure you can. As for IconPackager tutorials, however, they can be found in the link on right-hand side here in the forums.

Wasn't there a screencast on IconDeveloper?
