Windows XP Black Edition

Friday, January 4, 2008 by Coleshill | Discussion: OS Customization

Hi,

I have just upgraded to vista ultimate and do not like it... I still have my old CD key from XP Pro so I was thinking of downgrading!

I was surfing when i bumped into XP black... The new version has sp3 built in and a load of other stuff... Plus Ive heard its quick...

What do you think of it??

Haven't heard it. Post a link.

What's wrong with your upgrade of Vista Ultimate? What are the spec's of the computer you upgraded to Vista?

My understanding is this is a warez distribution of Windows XP which also includes a number of pirated apps.  A number of pages suggest this may include a pirated copy of WindowBlinds 5 too.

Please do not post any links to such software and I would strongly urge you to avoid it.

Neil thanks for the information. I wasn't aware of what XP black was. Guess I should of check it out first. Kind of glad now that the original poster didn't put a link in his post.

You know, Neil, even posts like this serve a value: They let us less knowledgable/savvy folks in on potentially or even actually illegal software. Many of us don't have the time to surf and learn about all this stuff so here's an idea...how about a guy at Stardock, or in the community having a section here that warns us about this kind of stuff, malware and infected apps....could do a body some good!
If you'd like, I can post this in the forum as a separate thread (if you're planning to yank the present thread).

Anyone like the idea?

No it would be almost like an advert for it. You want to try this stuff check this thread for where to go and get it.

I know that's not what you mean but loads are happy to try this stuff as it's free.

If it's a pay for product and you are getting it free something is wrong with it that's all you need to know about it.

If you have the machine for it, Vista Ultimate is way cool! I have one laptop with Ultimate and another with XP Pro (it's hard to let go of the old ways). Any illegal software is risky business at best and ill advised; it's just not worth it.

I agree without qualification...Guess it takes all kinds...I really only wanted a "place to go" where I could find out what's out there to avoid. I didn't think of the people who think they're getting something great "free". TANSTAFL (R.A. Heinlein) "There ain't no such thing as free lunch". Thanks for your comment, rickalot.

"Black edition" just sounds dodgy as hell to start with.

What specs do you need for XP black...And where do you get it???

"Good for goths! i can just see the computer store flooding with goths, wanting to get their greasy mitts on this new(sort of) OS..."

i don't care if it's pirated, i still want to check it out!

I did a search on isohunt.com and i found out that it is loaded with 3.6gb of pirated stuff! Talk about risky!!! On second thought, im not so keen on having it any more...

There's little need to have a forum/thread listing potential dramas with 'warez to avoid'.

It's simple...

Avoid all warez....

Period....
