I quit cold turkey around 10 years ago, just threw them away one day and never went back. If ever I got the urge to smoke, I would just take a real deep breath and say to myself "You know, if I was still a smoker I wouldn't be able to breath deep like this!".
We are all pulling for everyone quitting, keep it up! ![]()

One of the few times I agree with LightStar. Cold turkey is the only way and yes you will get the urge to light one up but do what he said or something else to take your mind somewhwere else. It takes about 2 years to totally forget smoking or the reflex to reach into your shirt pocket. Been 5 years now for me afte 43 years of smoking and I'am happier than a pig in shit. Plus I have that $200 to spend on other things.![]()

...and to think nowadays when even a really cheap brand is around $4.00 a pack, if you smoked a pack a day that's $28.00 a week, $1.456.00 a year! I can certainly think of better uses for that money. ![]()

I suppose it depends on the individual.....my son when he quit....bought all the patches paraphernalia....and it didn't agree with him at all...after a coupla days...just went cold turkey.....each person needs to find the way they are comforatable with...to motivate and help them....whatever works....is the best way...
over $17 a pack in Australia...makes for a huge motivation....

Wow! That's around $14.30 US Syd! I hope all your taxes on stuff aren't that high down under! ![]()

Damn, Marlboro's are about $5 US. One would figure that would be a good reason to quit but all that seems to be doing is forcing people to go to the generic brands which are somewhat cheaper. Oh well, people make their own choices. I even quit drinking(was only a social drinker) but that saved $$$$ to spend on other things.

The cost of medical care and lost productivity related to smoking is conservatively estimated to be $150 billion.
The cost in terms of human suffering is incalculable.
Quit. Just do it. You'll never be sorry you did.

After 16 years, I've finally started the process of attempting to possibly quit smoking. Last week I ordered some nicotine patches and as of this past Monday, I've smoked between 1 pack to 3/4 of a pack per day. I know it doesn't seem too impressive, but, before Monday I was smoking two packs a day.
