Sunday, December 30, 2007 by Huang Choi | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I just registered to post this message and it is from the most important matter!

Well it's basically like this how it is supposed that some Stardock employees and people from other foreign countrys
participate into this contest of Alienware are you kidding me?

I am from China and I am a Master in terms of Maya and other programs and then they let people that are employees of Stardock
and working for them and even people from foreign countrys like JJYing is from China also
participate if I knew this I would have participated in and my friends we had won the 3 first prizes

So do not bullshit me assholes!

Its all hypocrites around here so get yourself and fags and you too JJying youre in China
not in USA so you couldn't have participated and yourself other stardock Employees!

The winnners are going to be JJYing and the other stardock Employees open your eyes

Just joined the site - just left it too

Just because you cannot enter a contest does not give you the right to be angry or abusive.

i agree he has a valid point concerning the contest rules. his language and abusive comments are not warranted, though.

I Agree with that.

Like me, I bet JJ has a non-moderated acceptance level on Wincustomize. This allows any submission to be immediately approved and the show up on the site. This allowed him to enter the contest without question from Stardock.

I'm sure it will either be removed or will be disqualified after the contest deadline.

As for the Splode dream, is Seabass a Stardock employee or a contractor?

I think you're right - Seabass mentions it's an example of what not to do - for an article not yet uploaded

Thats what I was thinking until I read this comment on the dream page from him:
Currently reworking this Dream and Splode Invasion dream. This dream will be a bit more detailed and will loop. A few new added effects will be included as well. We will call this a "test run". If you have any other suggestions please let me know.

I guess it's possible he may have decided to keep working on it even if he didn't plan to submit it for the contest.

Yes but does he have the right to do it I don't think so!

Because he may have spent a whole month doing the theme the thing now that he is going to get disqualified and I hope he will because if I knew I could easily have submitted my entry as in the other post they were seeing that you can submit no one is looking at them!

I hope that is the solution and everyone JJYing that is from the same country as I am gets disqualified there are friends of mine that could have win this easily!

And contestants that have more than 18 not like some that are here!

Anyway the other ppl and organizations will be knowing this

Like JJ Ying, they are from China, and the contest is for US residents only.

Maybe you don't read the rules when you enter into a contest:

Let's see where is it ah yes here it is:

Terms & Conditions

Eligibility:

* US Residents Only (except Rhode Island)
* Must be 18 years of age or older
* Employees of Stardock, Dell, Alienware, Microsoft, their friends and immediate families are not eligible to enter.

So I am not from US I'm from China my friends also are
JJYing is a chinese and is in China
the other is a Stardock Employee
Some have not 18 years

Well but ppl don't read the rules or just try to be blind and not see it and then
they invest so much time on the work and then they will start to complain
because they are from some other foreign country and his work must have won the contest

Common gimme a break

"easily" and "no one is looking at them" are not the good terms
JJYing is a Master (level 5) on Wincustomize.com, so his submissions are not moderated. (see About for anymore info).
All others, who are not submissions by journeymen or higher levels (4 to 9) pass by moderation.
that's also the case of Seabass, BUT in Seabass case his submission is not really a submission it's a part of a tutorial i linked above.

Quick Lesson in Dreams

Anyway, you should understand: like in every contest people give their work and after contest judge decide who are the winners (and who are disqualified) the Rules of 18 years old, US residents, and no MS, SD and alienware employees was given by alienware. AND they will be followed by contest judges

As a matter of interest, who came up with these rules? Seems rather draconian

Ok then several rules are being broken

I thought this was going to be like for all the same but it seems that you are violating once again the terms

First:
"Eligibility"
"Employees of Stardock, Dell, Alienware, Microsoft, their friends and immediate families are not eligible to enter."

that means that every friend of someone that is here and has a friend from a Stardock guy or girl is in breach of the term many employees here of Stardock have friends among here I believe!

So unless the contenders are not the friends of ppl that work at Stardock they shouldn't even be qualifying but once again JJYing has!

Second: (and not to repeat all my points)

"Submissions"
"Submissions must be the original work of the person uploading."

After seeing some works my doubts showed and you can see some ppl made a cut and paste I don't know how it idd past through moderation

Third:
"Submissions"
"All entries must be new work, not previously posted to WinCustomize or any other website."

Again some are not new work they are just edited and this its copy and paste violating the rules
And some works are now being displayed into another sites other than wincustomize

Fourth:
"Judging"

"Winning submissions will be selected by contest staff made up of representatives from WinCustomize, Stardock and Alienware."

I don't see where's the differenece between staff from Stardock and staff from Wincustomize that's just stupid"

Fifth:
"Eligibility" the most important one
"Eligibility:

* US Residents Only (except Rhode Island)
* Must be 18 years of age or older"

Ppl have not 18 years old or older and some are not US residents (take JJying) im from his country and could have if I wanted easily submitted

Sixth:
"Submissions"
"All submissions to the contest will be reviews by contest staff before being made public. "

Yes right it is so certain that chicken will start to kill bears
Nah seriously It wasn't reviewed and ppl prefer to just be blind and let other submissions go on that's the truth
even if you are a master as Quentin said it should have be reviewed!

If they don't read the rules, then that's their fault. Not something you should be spouting off about to Stardock, they will, I'm sure, handle all the unqualifying entries properly. Settle down.

The state of Rhode Island doesn't allow much in the way of contests and such. The U.S. Residents only...not sure about that limitation on this contest.
The 18 years of age or older restriction, most (read that as MOST) contests have an age requirement associated with them for legal reasons, I'm sure this has the same legal mumbo jumbo.

1.  Splode is not an actual contest entry

2.  JJ Ying's entry is not elligible for judging.

When we do the judging next week we will be sorting out who is and isn't elligible and judging based on that.  Just because it was submitted and posted, does not mean it's necessarily elligible.

The limitations on who could enter were requested by the sponsor.

Please hold your anger until we actually select the winners.  Until that happens, everything is just conjecture and guess work.

And we have the GUI Champs coming up in 2008, and you can bet there will be a Dream category.  For the GUIC, we open the contest to everyone everywhere (including SD employees, folks from China etc)

Stardock Staff are folks on the Stardock payroll.  So that's people like myself, Island Dog, Frogboy, KarmaGirl, T-Man etc.

WinCustomize staff are volunteers who help keep the site moving along.  That's people like Fuzzy Logic, Quentin94, elvee, WOM, CerebroJD etc.
