Given the opportunity, what would you change
Wednesday, December 12, 2007 by Philly0381 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
We are all thinking about the last gifts we need to get, and making sure we didn't forget anyone when we sent out our greeting cards. This is also the time we start refecting on the past twelve months and longer, hoping that we did all we could to make life just a little better for the ones we hold closest to our heart.
During the year we all have, I'm sure, found things happening in our life and others lives that just wanted to make us stand up and shout, "Could this all please just stop". It is discouraging at times when those with the means, position and power just don't step up and do something. Can't they hear us.
So if you were such a person of means, position, or power, just what would you change, stop, or cause to happen that would make people stop what they were doing, look up, listen and pay attention.
For me, the list as they say goes into next week. If I had to pick one thing it would be to remind everyone everywhere, that one of the most important things if not the only thing we have to do everyday of our life is protect and keep our children safe. As a world, we just are not doing a very good job of it. If we would just work on that, just think of the possibilities.
So here's your chance folks, say just as little or as much as you feel necessary but, and this will be hard, just one thing. There is alot of things going on in the world that need our help and attention, take a stand, let your voice be heard.
Have a Happy Holidays everyone.

I'd like to change the day that the first politician lied and got away with it... not a good precedent for current politicians/world leaders...
...but first and foremost, I'd change the day lil Johnny entered politics... he'd have become a sewage worker/technician. Oh, that's right... he was in sewage/ a conveyor/purveyor.

I wonder why that is? Guess our State has a lot of the area covered by mountains. Mind you, I've been doing my bit and just bought the gap in those figures closer with our new baby boy

In addition....
Outlaw attorney's holding any position in government.
Outlaw more than one family member ever running for president.
Outlaw religion having anything whatsoever to do with government.
When you create a law....you must also remove one.
If Politicians think minimum wage is livable they should be required to live on it. If they don't think it is livable they should raise it.
Universal health care for everyone.
Illegal aliens are immediately deported...no if, ands, or buts, and if your caught giving a job or housing to an illegal alien everything you own is confiscated, sold, and put towards the universal health care fund...and your deported with the illegal alien.

If theres any truth to this PlanetX thing I keep hearing about, which is suppose to wipe out over 2/3 of the planets population around 2013, I think we won't have to worry about that much longer.

Glad somebody else sees the light. Peace is never found at the end of a gun cos people will fight fire with fire, and in the end you only reap what you sow. In other words, no matter what you put out there, the pigeons will always come home to roost at the end of the day.

Right now I'm feeling very bummed how this turned out.
Maybe I'm really alot closer to poor old Charlie Brown and the gang just didn't understand me.

Oh dear, and I'm just about to add another... but at this time of year it is quite relevant.
I'd like to change Christmas to before it became a commercial racket and about materialism, rather than family togetherness/sharing... the birth of Christ, etc.. Earlier I heard about a NYC kid who found he was getting a Nokia instead of the $800 iPhone he'd demanded, so he took the entire family's Xmas gifts (several thousand dollars worth) to the apartment block's incinerator and burnt them all.
So, with this in mind, I hope that everyone here has a fantastic holiday and is able to spend some quality time with family and friends.

Worry not Philly dude - soul searchings an inward looking kind of activity - not really suited to railing at the World.
That's cool though, I reckon one of the best things a person can do, is try and create a firm enough footing for themself, so that they're well placed to reach out to someone else when they're in trouble.
Accept/ask for a helping hand if it's needed, break down some of those fears, become a little braver, grow a little stronger, then reach out and help the next person do the same.
Too many folks waiting for the World to change before they do it.... wrong way around to my thinking...

I agree with ya there! If people got more involved...such as bitching to the people in the position to make changes rather than at each other then things "might" change....or be the change by setting an example to others.
But to be honest with you...I think things have gotten so far out of hand already that its going to take a catastrophic event...not as in 911....far worse...before we see any changes.

1) As humans we move toward and become like that which is uppermost in our minds. In other words our present thoughts individually or collectively as a society tend to create our future.
2) True and lasting change first starts on the inside and works its way out. It is a do-it-yourself project requiring commitment and more importantly action. Laws won't do it - external force won't do it - it has to start in each one of us and then we need to accept the accountability for our actions.
Peace and empathy would be good things to aim these principles at...
