New To Skinning etc.

Need Help

Friday, November 23, 2007 by MickY-G | Discussion: Skinning

Hello All
I subscribed to WinCustomise a few weeks ago. I have been using the LogonStudioVista program which I think is absolutely excellent! I am running Vista Ultimate and what I would like to know is, being new to all this, if I used a skin or theme I think its called with Vista, is it fully reversable? Inasmuch as if I install a theme or skin, can I take it off if I dont like it and go back to the normal Vista Aero them that comes with Vista or maybe change the theme to one I am happy with? Sorry to be such a pain but I know absolutely nothing about all this and I don't wish to change something in Vista that I will possibly regret and then find I am stuck with a theme that one, I might not like and two, neither can I get rid of it? Also, as I am new to this, there are so many different programs that can be downloaded to aid in the complete changing of the whole O/S UI but I am unsure of just exactly which program(s) I would need to try out some skinning and themes etc and do they cost the earth to buy or can one use the free versions just as good? Thank you for any help in advance and again, sorry for being a pain. Regards, Mike, UK

Yes, it is reversible. I think there is a "default theme" button (or something similar) for reverting your theme back.

Hi, MickY-G ...yes, they are reversible...you can set them back to the 'default'....and it'll be like they were never on...

Welcome MickY-G, not to worry, at any time you wish to go back to Vista Aero you can. Nothing you do with WinCustomize changes anything to where you can not go back.

Take a look a Object Desktop here WWW Link, it includes WindowBlinds and lots more that allow you to really customize just about everything on your desktop.

You say you have a WC subscription, have you purchase any other programs are used any of the trial software?

I'm not a skinner but alot of the people who do skinning are using freeware programs. You only have to pay if you really want. It seems for the beginner free software works fine.

Hi MickY-G,
This has nothing to do with your question, I am finally back at submitting files. I know you like Tigers, so watch for a couple of new LogonVista's. They should be up in about 5 days. #1 is called "Relaxing Tiger" and #2 is called "Tiger Stare". I think you will like these much better than my "Bad Dream" tiger Logon.

Have A Great Day,
