Some things I'd like to see for ObjectDock
Wishfull thinking....
Friday, November 9, 2007 by messiah1 | Discussion: ObjectDock
1. I know I can set my tabs to be different colors and have different fonts...however, what I'd like to see is a way to have different color fonts for active/inactive tabs. For example, the active tab has a white font, the inactive tabs has a gray or black font.
2. Blurring! I'd love to see the same option that WB6 now has where you could turn on blurring for the docks...say you have a clear dock and where you can see through it is slightly blurred. That would rock.
3. Docks that can be curved. I know I can make curved docks...but how sweet would it be to have the icons follow the curve of the dock?
Ok, your turn.

Hey Jeff, can ya comment on this; My computer and Control Panel use the proper icons from IP, but for My Docs., My Pics, My Music and My Vids. I have to manually change them when I change IP icons. This means for IP packs that are an .icl and not individual icons I must change to individual icons to have access to the icons. Some packs that are .icl, I think due to how they where made, will not save as individual icons from IP's Package Builder, for these I must use IconDeveloper to save the icons as png images. Can be a lot of work for a feature we had in version 1.5.

Can ya figure out why when we have the same image on the left/right or top/bottom we can't use the same sizes for both? Would make life so much easier.
And...and....can you figure out a way for the Plus/Minus images to work when anyone puts they're backgrounds in the "My Documents" folders you added? When they are in there the custom Plus/Minus images don't work and they just get the default images....kinda screws up the whole matching theme thing.
And then...I want my docks to read my mind and know which icon I'm going to click before I do it! And I'd like an "order pizza" docklet!

That would be soooo cool!

ObjectDock allows you to do this as well, by dragging the files onto the dock entry, but for some reason, it tends to take several seconds to maximize the application.
I would like to see this functionality improved in the next version of OD.

Oh boy, can`t wait for 2.0! ![]()
My 0.3 cents:
I would also like to see a function to stretch the dock to cover the whole width of the screen, like a bar. Here`s an actual screenshot of my desktop, you'll get the idea:

And another thing I would like to see is a skinnable Frame/Button feature for the Icons. Something like having that vista glass frame (that same frame in the user picture in the start menu) arround the icons, or an png of a transparent iphone-like button that can overlap the icons, or any custom frame/button in that sort.
And my last request, I would like to hide my dock all the time, and call it back from the offscreen using a keyboard shortcut, like Windows Key + D, or a floating icon that I can just press and make the dock appear, that last one is quite useful for touch screen / tablet pc users like me.
Thanks for reading and keep on the awesome work! ![]()
PS.: Sorry about my awful english. >< I gotta keep on practicing!

I can't believe I'm even going to suggest this as I have NO clue as to what is involved in making OD's. Oh, I'd love to, but I'm not even close. I'd point the finger to the wonderful one that suggested I come to this thread, but I'd probably be stoned, lol. These requests come from me going to the ER as I OD'd on OD! Nah, I'm kidding, but sheesh, they should start a 12-steo program on the addiction of OD.
So here goes, from a brand new user of OD+! Please forgive how naive and silly my requests sound, again, I'm cluseless....
I downloaded what seemed like thousands of OD skins, all fantastic. But I'm very particular with what I'll use and what I won't. Nothing personal, it's just me. I love 'computer decorating'. So, how about where you select which skin you want to use in the Appearance window... when I try the docks that look flat, instead of tiles, I don't want them. So, I have to go thru a very lengthy process of matching up the ini's and pngs that I don't want, for each skin I want to keep. Am I making any sense? So, I was hoping that I could click in that window on something I DIDN'T like, and have it give me a choice to delete not only the ini but the pngs that are associated with it. Not only would it help shorten the list of thousands I have to select from, but maybe it would help slower computers from having to select from everything, including those you don't want?
Ok, last request, and please don't take this as insulting, as I just adore all the work you all do. Oh do I ever. But I was hoping for a way to maybe make folders in that window or in my Explorer. So I could put all the Blue ones in one folder, or all the Terracotta ones in another and last example, all the steel ones in another. Then the folders would show in that Appearance window allowing me to cut down on all the others that wouldn't fit which docks I wouldn't want? That would then help sorting thru all of them to select the one dock that would go with everything else Stardock as given us like WB or even wallpapers? Would that be possible?
Ok, I am sorry I asked this, but I just had to. I'm only about half way thru picking out what I don't want (I'm saving the full skins in case I change my mind later as to what I want and don't want and wouldn't have to search thru WinCustomize for it again... and my eyeballs are screaming! I can barely see the docks that I already scaled down! The roomie is screaming as I forget to feed us. It's a good thing I don't have kids...
Thank you all,
Shar***
PS, as I love graphics, someday I do so hope to contribute a teensy bit to what you wonderful artists do... I so thank you for bringing so much more enjoyment to my computer...

I apologize, I didn't get to read all the posts here, I just wanted to add my ideas real quick before I watch a movie.
1. Some docks have seperators, and some don't, I'd like to have all my seperators in one folder and be able to choose them per dock like the running indicator.
2. Animated docks. Ex. A leopard style dock with water running off it, A dock that has a glare or beam of light animation, maybe a l.e.d. scrolling marquee that displays the folder name upon mouse over, a dock that looks like a curtain, and when you mouse over it, it opens to reveal a stage with your favorite........ ICONS!! Could be a play on words. LoL
3. When you use tiled docks, the flyouts are also tiled, I'd like to see tiled flyouts on zoomers.
Ummm, I thought I had more, prolly think of them tonight. Once again, sorry if these were already mentioned.

OneLumpSum: I like the separators idea. That's good. I also am waiting for the day we can have animated docks. I spoke with Jeff about this some time ago and he said that it's HUGE to code. Probably won't see this. The tiled flyouts for zooms is good idea too. Keep 'em coming bud. Keep 'em coming.
