Be ever vigilant...

I mean it...

If ever any of you think that it's ok to let your child walk out the door without asking where their going or who they will be with... think again...

Two days ago... my eldest son..of 3 (17)... walked out.."back in a few Dad" 30 minutes later I had the Police department calling me... the picture I think speaks for itself but I should tell you..

He was thrown through a window by an intoxicated 36 year old that just happened to show up at one of his young friend's houses to start trouble with their parents...

The result..? for him? Scarred for life..badly it seems, who know's mentally what the damage is...

For me... I havent slept since it happened and doubt I will ANY time soon...

The guy was arrested but shortly threreafter bailed out by his Mother. I don't intend to seek retribution as I believe the law should work for the people but I will say.. (and I have never met this guy)..BUT..If I ever do.. I WILL kill him, given the opportunity.

Again... watch after your babies.. no matter how tough they think they are and do anything you can to fight violence \ abuse in your immediate surroundings.

Thanks for letting me vent... this post was preceeded by tears but had to be posted to someone for my own sanity.

V.

I'm a single dad with a 12-yr-old daughter and 10-yr-old son. I tend to be overprotective, but at the same time let them go new places without me, with friends and trusted adults.

The bottoms of my feet crawl when I think about someone doing such a thing as this.

Good to hear he's on the mend.

Missed this post the first time. Glad to hear he's doing ok!

When I was 13, my Mom and I got robbed at knifepoint in Brooklyn by a crack-head needing a fix. He held the knife to my neck as he demanded money from us..... this was a totally surreal experience, something I actually have a hard time remembering now at 33. I think the whole episode was more traumatic for my mom than me.

This is of course not even close to what you and your son has gone through, but I believe he'll be fine!

Best wishes to the both of you John

Got his stitches out on Tuesday, he looked a bit shocked at how bad a scar it's going to be and I don't blame him , looks rather horrid. Otherwise he seems to be doing just fine, I don't see any difference in his behaviour, It still however is in my own mind as I try to sleep at night, some nights I can't shake it at all. Anyway, like everything else it will pass in time I hope. A bit more weary now everytime the phone rings when the kids are out and about.

Tell him to start building a better story around teh scars now.  It'll pay off with the girls later.

still very early days.....it'll look angry for awhile....needs time to heal and fade...

been hearing about this Low Light Laser Therapy WWW Link apparentlly it's best used when the scar is young.....perhaps worth investigating....plastic surgeon'll point you in the right direction....

yeah....tell him girls find scars sexy.....and he's set for life....

That's just being a good Father bro, the sleeplessness comes with caring.

My baby Matthew is 23 and I still worry, that's our job.

Tell your son for me to buckle down and be somebody! And when he sees dumb-shit coming, go the opposite way!

Thanks for the update JG, my hopes are for good days and better days for you and yours.

Just checking on you'all. Glad to hear there's positive progress.

seldomseen's scar treatment:
Once upon a time my then-gf sat on my woodburning cookrange when it was at the hottest. She only in towel. Took all the skin off'n both cheeks instantly. I sliced the biggest aloe vera spikes I could find lengthwise and bandaged them onto her twice a day and in three weeks she was walking and sitting and a little more than three months very little scarring. Just my 2 cents.

Thinking of you folks and constantly amazed when your new work comes out during all this.

Peace

Not to be gruesome or anything, but do you have any updated pictures on the healing process Vstyler?  Hope things are going smoothly!

I'll take a pic or two tomorrow, dropped my sofa on my 250$ digi cam and cracked the lcd screen all to hell, I'm just pissed off enough to not to want to even use it at the mo. Still works but have to use Viewfinder.

Was wondering where you have been at? Oh boy ... it does happen and it is never good when it does. Keep it cool - he aint worth it and it is always better to be on the bright side of things too!
Hope the boy gets over this and is better soon.

Drill a 1/4" hole in a piece of plywood, put the offending parts thru and into a garbage can. Or... a mobile, with wire, hanging from the ceiling.
