Friday, August 3, 2007 by Alexandra | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Stardock is pleased to officially announce that the beta of WindowBlinds 6 is now available for users of Object Desktop.  WindowBlinds 6 represents a whole new generation of Windows skinning with advanced new features such as animation overlays, blur glass effects on both Windows Vista and Windows XP, user created sub-styles, full font control, explorer backgrounds, complete Windows Vista skinning, faster performance, and much more!

The final WindowBlinds 6 will include 5 brand-new skins created by Stardock Design (a team up of many of the top skinners of all time including the Pixtudio team and Skinplant teams combined) to help demonstrate some of the new skins.

More features and information will be released as the beta moves forward.

If you don’t have Object Desktop, visit www.objectdesktop.com to get it.

You must uninstall WB 5.5 before installing WB6.  SDC will prompt to uninstall it if you try to install WB6.

The Vista sidebar, even when skinned by WB6 still makes the background behind rounded taskbars a solid colour.

Using the Diamond skin now, I've got to say I'm impressed.

Looks fantastic - however I am a object desktop subscriber and I can't install. Keep getting error 13 and installation stalls on auto archive through stardock central. A new problem for me.

What version of Stardock Central do you have?

Now that WB6 has transparency and blur control...being able to add shadows to skins would be nice. Any plans to add that?

Now I know WinFX can do it...but it's a bit unstable and takes a lot of resources...why not have WB natively do it? Makes sense...

Very impressive by the looks. I am an object desktop subscriber and cannot get it to download through SD central. Error 13 - no archive - and invalid. Can't figure out why.

Thanks to bebi bulma - yes I have the latest SDC and have uninstalled WB5 so WB6 is now installed. however because I can't get past the firewll I activated via email and the sig.bin is not working. I shall have to wait for help from SD support. looking forward to using 6.

Wildharp: If you were sent a sig.bin for WB6, you will need to rename it to sig6.bin.

Thanks Neil - I'll give that a go tomorrow. I am also having trouble getting WB6 to start to download on my home pc. Seems not to want to acknowledge I'm eligible to dl.
