WindowBlinds 6 Beta Feedback
Wednesday, August 1, 2007 by Neil Banfield | Discussion: Stardock Support General
Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.
Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only. Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista. Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.
This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY. Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.
Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.
If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

I still get an error that my registration is invailid for WB 6.. I made sure WB 5 was regististered and tried registering WB 6 *in the product registaration dialog box* with the only WB serial I had but it still said it was invailid...
I would really like to try and get WB 6 and get it working to test it out..
I am not sure now what else to do...
Any advice would be helpful...
Heres my info just incase its needed...

AnneMarie: The beta is for purchasers of Object Desktop, not standalone WindowBlinds. It should not be showing for standalone customers but is due to a bug which should be fixed in the morning.
While some people who own WB5 will get free upgrades to WB6 when it is released, they do not have access right now. For those outside of the free upgrade window there will be a charge, but things are not setup to handle that currently.

I don't quite understand why you have to be a Object Desktop owner if you are a subscriber and/or bought the product but I will have to accept it
I apologize for not reading the "Red Text" that stated the Object Desktop only thing...
Thanks
Anne

I just added the red text.
The reason it is OD only is because no WB standalone customer has bought WB6 as you cannot buy it right now.

Can I ask a dumb question about the above? Where do I check to make sure that my computer is 32 bit?
Thank you

In Vista you can look in the Computer(My Computer) properties.

Karmat, the odds are overwhelming you're using a 32-bit OS. Right click on your My Computer/Computer icon and select Properties. On Vista, it'll explicitly mention "System Type: 32-bit Operating system" (or 64). I think XP will also indicate it in a similar fashion, but I'm not rebooting tonight to check.
You really really have to work to get a 64-bit version of Windows installed still (doesn't tend to come preloaded), so you probably are on 32-bit.

The Animation on the Start Panel for Molten was really interesting -
(*Thought - what about adding the ability to add Widgets there ? like a clock / weather/stock ticker?)
The installation for me was just fine -
SDC had a new version - installed - restarted.
It said I had WB 5.5 and needed to uninstall - it did - rebooted - as required.
Went back to SDC and installed WB6 - didnt need to reboot -just launched WB6
Very nice

One little thing I am noticing with the Blur feature (*which is very slick on XP)
It will blur everything that is behind the Title bar - EXCEPT for Other Title Bars - so if I have 2 windows opened, one on top of the other - you can see both Titles clearly - :>?

Ditto.(start menu of Molten skin by ChaNinja for those who have not checked it out yet)
Was nice to see the new skins by Stardock Design included. Brad has been showing off Diamond for awhile now in preview shots.
