WindowBlinds 6 Beta Feedback
Wednesday, August 1, 2007 by Neil Banfield | Discussion: Stardock Support General
Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.
Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only. Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista. Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.
This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY. Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.
Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.
If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

Is the currently downloadable SDC on Stardock.net the correct version?

I do have one gripe though. The transparency (at least for my skin of choice currently) doesn't seem to work at all. I'm using "aerial" by danillOC. The taskbar is transparent no matter what settings I choose to apply. Does this mean I have to go into SKS and change the attributes for the taskbar image or is this a "bug/feature" ? It's not a major thing either way, but I don't want a transparent taskbar unless the skin is designed that way. And aerial is so nice sleek and black with no transparency.

Thanks for any insight you can give for this dilemma.

Showed DX and WB6 updates available, clicked update now. DX installed. Got the 'previous version of WB must be uninstalled first. Did that. Rebooted. Naked Computer
Opened SDC, no update prompted, but showed WB6 as available to install. Installed, rebooted.
Working as expected. VERY NICE!!! On XP no less. It might be just in my head, but there *seems* to be more areas allowed to be transparent/translucent.
Even got an unexpected bonus: The new SD skin "Diamond" allows for full window drags, not just the outline. (my graphics card isn't up to spec) It's a little slow, but still. It's the only skin which allows that. That skin seems to slow everything else down. Don't know why. Changing to anything else clears up the slowness.
My only beef is that changing skins is now very, very slow.
There is a process showing up called "WBINST~2.exe. Don't know what that is, haven't tried killing it, but it won't go away on its own.

No go under Vista 32 Ultimate.
I'm getting the "you must reboot" error message ad nauseum.
I disabled Windows Defender since that is the only registry protecting application I have (besides NOD32 antivirus) and UAC is disabled on this machine.
I have admin privileges and this is a Quadro FX 4000 workstation display card so it is more than zesty enough.
Anyone else getting "you must reboot" over and over again?

Is there a list somewhere of which skins got deleted so we can do reinstall them? And I'm also having the problem about the window frames not blurring over certain things. Examples: there's no blur when placed over Winamp, and when hovering over my Avedesk widgets...it doesn't see them at all, only the wallpaper behind them.
