A new skinner on the block...

Hello. I'm a new member of WinCustomize but not new to their site! My brother introduced me to WinCustomize and I liked it a lot! I eventually wanted to join the community and become part of everything. I did a couple of days ago and have already learned a great deal about skinning! I've released two logon skins, one being Harry Potter OOTP logon in both Wide and Fullscreen. The second one is a generic Star Wars logon which I just uploaded today so it's not on quite yet. These are my first two.
Anyways...enough with the introduction. The main reason I'm posting is to know what I need to improve on to make my logons better for you. My Harry Potter logon only rated a 2-star and I'm not execting much better with my Star Wars one. If you could check them out and tell me what I need to do to improve it'd be much appreciated! Thank you for your time.

There are a lot of artists who would probably be happy to have a wall of theirs modified into a log-on (including me...hint hint). All you have to do is find something and ask. 
You might check out DA for stuff in the 'stock section'. (Resources>Stock Images) You can modify just about anything there as long as you give credit and send the author a note. Each stock-artist usually has there own rules, but most are the same. I use stock-images from there for subjects in my walls often.
I had a hell of a time with my one and only log-on. If you can do them, you're only 'limited' by your imagination.

That's how I started with logons, asking other people if I could use their wallpapers for a logon, and it's true, most people will say yes.
I started with pretty basic Logon Studio logons, and asked some of the people here, and Deviant Art too,to use their wallpapers, and they said yes.
And the more practice you get at making them, more people will let you use their walls until you learn how to make your own. It just takes time and learning.
I suggest you stay with Logon Studio for awhile, learn how to do them well, make your own graphics as you learn how, and when you get comfortable with your graphics skills, then maybe think about trying more complicated logons.

Also, Cavan is very good at Logon Studio logons. Look him up...he's really helpful too!
Just remember if someone gives you permission to use their wallpaper for a logon...include a permission text in the logon and give them credit in your description and a link to their page.

Wow, thank you all! I'll definately stay with Logon Studio AT LEAST until the end of the year. As for making graphics, I've made countless signatures and several videos with a wallpaper here and there so I wouldn't call myself skilled as much as experienced. I've been into the whole graphics thing since I was 10...movie editing, that sort of thing. I moved on and on using a program called Pinnacle Studios which some of you are probably familiar with. After that I moved on to more programs which are more advanced. I'm still getting better to this day! In fact, you can view some of my older videos here: www.freewebs.com/movieman999. Hopefully I can get my newest one out soon which I'm starting filming for most likely this week.

I'll definately have to find out how to improve my skinning without the use of logon studio...as Tycus said it just limits you way too much. Lucky for me I'm taking a javascript class this year in school.
I'll probably work on another logon tomorrow if I have some time. This time no copyright trouble...
