Which Type of Wallpaper Do You Use?

Friday, July 6, 2007 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I personally like wallpapers of photo landscapes, in particular places where I wish I was on vacation at.  There is such a wide variety of wallpapers out there such as photos, abstracts, 3D, etc.  that I often have a difficult time choosing ones to use.

Is there a certain "type" of wallpaper that you use often, and if so, what are your favorite types?

Most of my walls are my personal photos or "art".  When I change it's usually to the wall that comes with the latest Suite I bought.

I saw the following wallpaper today and thought, "What a horrible wallpaper this would make and how fun would it be to put on someone's PC and then diable the option to change it through grpoup policy"

landscapes, some in Bryce, daz or other CG art. Mostly photos a la "vista" walls. Some techy-type, gears and wheels, rivets/plates, a la Boxxi's "machine series. Anything without central "hub-cap" style. Currently "intrigue no logo", but usually no abstract. #3, above, no.

I like abstract wallpapers, the ones where people add in random filters until they get something that looks cool or tranquil nature wallpapers

Waterscapes, Landscapes, Sunrise/set, critters and weather related photos work for me. Occasionally I'll use something abstract as long as it's not too busy and it matches my overall "theme". Other than Kenwas tall ships, I've never had much use for terragen/realistic 3D type stuff.

some techy-type, gears and wheels, rivets/plates,

I like the stuff by Millameter and Sleeping Dragon in this style. Fairly minimalistic.

Zubaz.......thanks for bringing up lunch. It was giving me heartburn anayway.

Photo stuff, right now I'm using one of a tropical beach. Either that or minimalist abstract ones.

Since getting Vista I tend to use landscape and waterscape photography more, though I still like to use HR Giger type fantasy art with some skins. It depends on whether I'm in a dark mood or not....a bright and airy wall will go with bright and colourful skins, whereas the kind of fantasy art I like generally goes with darker skins.

I'm not into abstracts or fractals usually, but I've used some with dark backgrounds that my missus has done because they've been perfect with my fav dark skins.

Zubaz.......thanks for bringing up lunch.

It didn't quite have that affect as I've not had it yet.....and I was so looking forward to it as well.

I like them all, if they make me feel good or make me happy, thats what I use. Just depends on my mood...

At home, I tend to use screenshots from Myst Online:Uru Live, or sometimes a fractal that I made. At work, I like using many different kinds (changing couple times a week), from awesome severe weather photos to landscapes, astro and other science photos, artwork from vlad and David Lanham, and on occasion a fractal that I made.

new one on me    ... oh and thx Zu for making me have to twirl anti-clockwise in my chair for 15 mins.

I use mostly scenic walls with lots of contrast with Trans. skins...overall I prefer satin'y smooth abstract stuff and techy walls... oh and almost always blue

I like walls with buildings in them (castles, cottages, famous landmarks etc) . I use Nuon Wallpaper Cycler with a main wall and 4 thumbnails on the right side and I change them every 5 minutes. I also use walls with pics of tigers (naturally ). They generally go best with dark themes.

I likes the minimalistic stuff, but I'll use something flashy once in awhile. Doesn't stay long though.

Type of wallpaper I like to use? Whatever I feel like it.

BTW, Zubaz you want evil wallpaper? Tile this. I made this quite a while ago, from a original picture that wasn't tileable.
