Which Type of Wallpaper Do You Use?

Friday, July 6, 2007 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I personally like wallpapers of photo landscapes, in particular places where I wish I was on vacation at.  There is such a wide variety of wallpapers out there such as photos, abstracts, 3D, etc.  that I often have a difficult time choosing ones to use.

Is there a certain "type" of wallpaper that you use often, and if so, what are your favorite types?

I like walls with buildings in them (castles, cottages, famous landmarks etc)

Yeah, me too....got heaps of castle walls, and a few Olde Devonshire thatched cottages.

I also go for nautical ones with ye olde sailing ships....I also like walls with steam trains, sometimes vintage cars & motorbikes.

I tend to like wallpapers that give feeling to my computer. This may be through landscapes, lots of colour or animation like with dreams. If I don't use dreams, I tend to use a program that changes my wallpaper every now and then, according to a preset list that I give it.

I tend to use high contrast walls as they show off the transparent windowblinds skins I like to use.

I love Interfacelift as a HUGE source of wallpapers of just about every type. Another is http://www.sxc.hu/index.phtml (stock exchange).

I wasn't so much interested in the source of wallpapers, as the "type" of wallpapers people use.

I use walls which go with the total package. Color is most important. It is also very important to me to be able to fit the rainys, widgets etc into the total scheme. I think of it as decorating a room. Seems like I mostly go with abstract type of walls. If done properly it's sort of an art form.

I like abstract ones and some with an 'industrial' feeling to them.

I probably change my wall twice a week or more so just about every type shows up sooner or later. Really depends on my mood. I've taken to using the completely transparent vista skins just my WB skin goes with whatever wall I'm using on any given day.

after much deliberation and research.......I have come to realize that the type of wallpaper I use is typically, rectangular with some sort of shapes on it, which can vary from resembling boats, cars, trees, to odd sphereical formations with lines.....

Those are my faves; especially tropical or Mediterranean places. Then I like abstracts; anything with depth. I can't use walls with objects and such on them for too long; the perspective feels too closed in, like a small cramped space.

Peter koff has the most interesting strange animals that I have ever seen, they are funny and I just love his work, mostly I use landscapes and 3D stuff. Lately I have had (due to grandbaby) Mickey Mouse, Eeyore, Minny, Goofy, Horses, that we have been around and have taken pictures of. I change walls almost everyday, so you just never know what you will see when you move the mouse. I don't use screensavers, I set mine to blank after 5 minutes and always have. Hate Screensavers, they just seem to distract me from everything else going on in my house.
