every person who takes the time to create something here is my favourite, but i do have personal fav's those being vstyler, quentin, tycus and messiah who all produce some beautiful looking works.

Here's a tip: Go to any section, like Windowblinds for example, and sort the skins by earliest uploaded, and work your way through them to the present.
I think you will be surprised at the quality and style of the early skins, even though they might not have all the features of newer skins.
You will see that the pioneers of skinning had class style and talent, and the one's that are still around are truly at the top of their game. (And it's fun to look at some of the early skins too!)
