bad news

well after the day started so well, i just got a phone call from my doctor. It seems the treatment they have been giving me for my leg has failed and unfortunately i am looking at an 90% chance that i will be having it amputated within 2 to 3 weeks. i have been on disability for quite a while trying to save my leg, but alas all has failed. not the kind of news you want to hear, especially when i thought things were going well with my treatment. Looks like i will have to change my user name to hopalong pretty soon

no point dwelling on it anyway, i am sure there are a lot of people out there far worse off than me, and at least i will still be alive

I know that having a leg removed is a major change in your life. But, they have made such progress these days with prosthetic legs they will have you up and walking in no time.

I was facing a similar prospect about 35 years ago I feel for you cos it scared the crap outta me. It didn't come to that, however, and hopefully your situation will have a similar result. I'm fortunate to still have both my legs, so I'm praying that miracle will also come your way.
