Some people are having Dream Problems

Some Dreams working for some but not others - WHY ???

Tuesday, March 13, 2007 by AzDude | Discussion: Animated Wallpapers

IN RESPONSE TO A FEW PEOPLE WHO POSTED THAT A FEW OF THE DREAMS DON'T WORK FOR THEM , I WROTE THIS - BUT AFTER I WROTE THIS I HAD ONE MORE THOUGHT - COULD IT BE THE PROGRAMS WE USE TO MAKE THE MPG2 FILES BE DIFFERENT IN THEIR CODING OF MPG2 ??? POSSIBLY CAUSING THE PROBLEM ?? I'M STUMPED ???? I KNOW ALOT HAS TO DO WITH THE VARIOUS COMPUTER MAKE-UP'S I.E. RAM - VID CARD ETC. BUT FOR THE FEW WHO CLAIM TO HAVE ENOUGH COMPUTER - I MAKE THIS POST >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> THIS WAS MY RESPONSE POST ..............................." I don't understand this either why some Dreams work for most people and a select few have a problem with a few Dreams - plain and simple the Dreams are made in the MPG2 format and then converted to the .dream file for download - 1 format for all ( unless you go .wmv but then CPU usage goes up ) - You would think if 1 MPG2 file and 1.dream file works for you they should all work - but they don't.-could it be maybe in the coding of the Mother Programs ( Dream Scene and/or DeskScapes ) were the problem lies ??? - Like I said before all my Dreams are fully tested to work flawlessly on my machine before submission - so I'm stumped why you chosen few have the problems when 100's of others don't . Enough has been mentioned about this in various Dream posts that I would expect WC to address the problem sooner or later - they made the program and it will probably be one of their techs who will fiqure it out - hopefully soon - 'cause some people are getting upset . This Dream thing is a whole new Concept and as such it would be very un likely for it not to have a few flaws ( bugs ) out the gate . Hopefully in time this will work itself out - but I would like to see this issued addressed by WC as to what they think is going on ????? ....... I FILL BAD FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING PROBLEMS - HOPING OF COURSE IT'S NOT SOMETHING I'M DOING WRONG ??? ----- PLEASE HELP WC IF YOU CAN - to shed some light on this issue - Thank You ...." ...... This is the Link to the posts i'm referring to here WWW Link

Dummy Me and I thought the problem might lay in the Program Coding !

So to be clear here about the " NyQuil " and this coming from a Developer
so it has to be right , Right ?

Do We drink the NyQuil or just pour it on the computer before bedtime ?

There you go folks !!!! ...... WHO KNEW ? Dream problem solved ! ( he he )

I really don't think it has anything to do with your Dreams, AzDude. From what I can gather, most people here are not experiencing any problems with them (or the other Dreams for that matter). I think it's just 1's and 0's on particular machines that are getting into arguments with each other. It might be a matter of bad video codices (I like that plural form of codex...sounds "technical", huh? )and/or old drivers. It could also be some bad online Bingo software they loaded last week for all we know and it's conflicting with Dreams....or they have a crapload of background programs running that are vying for the currentl heavy CPU usage that Dreams are taking. I don't think there is just one culprit. I'll bet if people would reformat, reinstall and put in the latest drivers (making sure they have an adequate CPU and graphics card) and forego installing Galaxy Wars DOS emulation software, Bubba Joe's Real Cool Firewall for Win 95 and similar software, then the Dream problems would go away.

P.S. I'm not really flaming those out there who are having problems...just pointing out that there may be not one, but a myriad of reasons why Dreams are not working on your particular system.

I have had Dreamy results with Pegasus Inc's TMPGENC mpeg encoder. I *highly* recommend you give it a shot if you are creating .dreams.

Can't speak for everyone but most of the people I know that are having problems with the dreams appear to have one thing in common.... NVIDIA. I have a duo core machine, 2 GB ram, and a video card with 256 Mb of ram. Dreams run for while then start to studder then speed up like a Keystone Cop movie. You'd think that by now, Nvidia could get their act together and fix their drivers.   Until then, I won't be using my dreams.
