Hi, every peoples, I been wondering lately, which OS do you prefer?
I am neutral on this subject except for the fact that I hate the mac ads because they are so misleading.

Windows can do everything a Mac can do plus a lot, especially thanks to some programs available.

the main reason that PCs are the popular ones is because of compatibility, the only way that macs would become more popular than PCs is if all the people who write software rewrote all their software for macs(not only would they have to learn a new programing language, but there would be so much, no one would ant to do it), and if you just like the look of it, that is what lite step is for...I love litestep.

HAHAHA, ok, so I just got off of bestbuy.com and pricewatch. com and I saw that a mac pro is $2,500 and I can build a PC (checked on pricewatch.com for actual msrp for parts)with the same parts, with the same specs for about $1,050 INCLUDING a monitor AND 2GB RAM

Well in all fairness, Mac's can too. A lot of the themes I use on my Windows are Mac-ports.

i'm a pc guy myself. i have never owned a mac or have even touched one before but, i hear that their pretty cool. i have always just owned pc's. and have always been quite happy with them.don't plan on switching anytime soon. let's face it! the windows machine is the workhorse of america!

true, and while were on the topic of graphics, I've heard of a program that sends all of graphical processing to the GPU instead of the CPU and therefore frees up the CPU for more important things, I was wondering if anyone has heard of this program and if they know where one can find it

I really REALLY wanted to buy a MAC (more so now that I've read all the problems with Vista) but I bought a new desktop AND a new notebook for virtually the same price and I didn't need to buy any new software or transfer my data on external hard drives to mac format.

Ive tried my fair share of Operating Systems, From Linux Mandrake to OS 
10.4.8), XP, 2000, 98... and Vista.
If your looking for overall usability and getting the most out of your hard earned $$$ I would recommend Vista in a heart beat.
For the amount of money you dish out to get a mid level Mac computer you could easily get a top of the line PC that will handle anything you throw at it. I mean lets face it, 4 years ago OS X was good for graphic editing (it still is), but with programs like Photoshop... etc there isnt anything graphically that a PC can't do that a Mac can.
There is an arguement to be made about the cost of Vista (400$ USD for Ultimate). Well here is my arguement to the OS X owners on that; Wile we pay 400$ USD for the OS we also get free updates & Service Packs. For example it was what 5 years till Microsoft released Vista, ok then now lets say Apple releases 1 update a year, and its 120$ to buy OS X if im not mistaken? That adds up to 600$. So theoretically people who are hardcore OS X fans pay 200$ more in the long run than people like me who bought Ultimate. Pwnt?
How can you even call Apple a competition? 10% of the market is like a fly on the back of an elephant.
And I won't even get into the whole gaming scene. Kind of funny really, I've been in arguements before with Mac owners where they claimed they can game on OS X!!! When questioned they tell me they run bootcamp (basicly an emulator of XP, I dont care what people say, IT IS A FORM OF EMULATION!) and run XP inside their Mac, let me get this straight, they hate Windows so badly that they switch then fire up bootcamp and run XP? Wow, I don't mean to insult anyone but way to be a big **cking hypocrite.
In the end it comes down to your personal choice, not everyone enjoys Windows, and certainly not OS X.

MAC (McIntosh)Apple in general are proprietary while PCs are not. You can buy most anything for PCs but not for macs. Besides even with all the nonsense about windows from time to time it is still hands down miles ahead of anything apple has. That's my opinion anyway. BTW...if windows runs true to form Vista SP2, like XP SP2, will kick ass.

I had both up until a few months ago. Consistently I went back to Windows. Not because I like *Windows itself, I do not use any of the default programs. But all of the programs I use daily are just not available with the Mac. And security is definitely not an issue. I do not use Microsoft updates at all and use FREE programs to protect my computer as well as commonsense.
I agree with AstyanaxO. It is @ssbackwards to use bootcamp to *YES emulate windows on a mac

you peoples have no idea how many arguments I've heard about using boot camp to use windows on a mac I mean, whats the deal with that? there are people out there who are die hard mac fans and absolutely hate windows but brag about having windows on their macs, besides, you can put mac OSX on a PC anyway, but I think you need a hacked version to do it

Actually you know? I really find those Pcs and Mac commericals really funny!
Yeah they can be misleading in so many ways but still they are fun to watch though, I mean you just gotta laugh at those commericals.
Anyways PCS are really good, Mac is build from Linux (btw), and the Macs are trying to catch up even to the PCS just like Linux is. But still PCS still rule and proably well for sometime until Microsoft goes out of business (yeah right) so. Btw I am sure Macs haas their crashes to, I don't beleive in a perfect computer that never crashes that is just so unheard of!

the windows OS will become so much better when they get new people to run the show. The story bill puts out is that microsoft has so many product tester, but the fact is it doesn't matter how many testers you have, the product is as good as it's program, and testers can't change the program

I priced a Macbook Pro and a good gaming laptop from Dell both cost about the same.
Mac you do not have the issue with viruses.
Mac has style.
Mac you do not need to worry about missing or corrupt drivers.
And what can you not run on a Mac anyways?
Have a hard time syncing to my PDA but that and GCII would be about it.
Would not miss MS office myself.
As far as running Vista there is not that much difference from a MAC or PC so why not if you want? Parralels looks really cool.
Even in the old OS/2 days we were talking about dual booting.

I don't use my Mac G4 much because it doesn't do anything more for me that Windows and does less in most aspects (see above).
