By what name shall I call you?

I've been thinking of this question for some time, and I thought it would make a good forum post. How do you want to be called; by your nickname, your given name or ? Is there a certain etiquette to follow for this?
I have no problem with people using tbc, tb, tc, teddy, Barbara, Barb, teddybearcholla (I think that covers them all )

Back to the original question "By what name shall I call you?" I'm one of those old schooled people that believes it's in how we interact with each other that dictates what we call each other. You may well remember (before all this computer stuff) there were people you met that no matter what would always be refered to as Mr., Mrs. or Miss out of respect and others whom you would never ever think of calling them anything but by thier first name.

Just Rick, Barb...I'm not fond of my nick but after ten years of use, it's probably too late in the game to go changing it now.

Eric is already a short name, but we Aussies even shorten those too, so naturally I ended up as "Erk"

So, ...Eric Or Erk is fine.

I get called lots of things....some of them are almost accurate.....

treetog calls me 'Frenchie'....but then he's just weird.

Protocol would likely see you using a person's nick within site community interaction....but the longer you interact/know people the more common it may be to use real names...

"13"....kidding!

You can call me by my real name Mark..."Arcturus" is a nickname I've used for a while, for this and a few other sites (13 cuz I must have been the 13th un-original person in line for the name ).


Protocol would likely see you using a person's nick within site community interaction....but the longer you interact/know people the more common it may be to use real names...

People usually call me Bebi, or rarely Bulma, and sometimes BB, but Aaron is about the only one to call me by my real name: Steph.

Mines the same on every site, except one or 2, where it was *too long* so I had to drop a letter or two. ....so far I have not seen another teddybearcholla...
