Subscriber Ratings

Wednesday, December 27, 2006 by TheGuyPC | Discussion: Community

I have NEVER submitted a rating on this site and had it make ANY difference one way or another. I've submitted ratings on skins that have 0 downloads & no comments. Nothing. 100 downloads? Nothing. It doesn't matter. Why is this?

Now I'm sure that someone is going to tell me that I'm not very smart, a "right wing" conspiracy theorist, or whatever. But when I click on the stars to rate a submission and it say's "Rating Saved", I figure I did it right. So...is there a lengthy waiting period? I've checked back in a couple of hours and, it's the same thing. My ratings are excluded.

Even worse, (besides the wonderful treatment that I've always recieved here, is that WinCustomize has slowed more and more lately.

If a person is a customer of Stardock, (O.D., Cursor XP Plus), AND...a subscriber of WinCustomize...doesn't that count for ANYTHING here? I seem to remember a promise of bandwidth priority for those who ponied up the $$ for a WC subscription. I'm not seeing it. Not at all. And I DON'T want to use the WC browser. I don't like it. I don't have to. If it's a matter of my using the "old" site vs. the "new" one....I would like to know.

I'm not even going to check back on this post. I've learned what I will get. But what I say is going on?Gospel, so fix it. I've payed for services I'm not recieving. I'm not going to bother to argue anything past this point. I will just continue to ask for it to be fixed. No threats. No non-sense. Just customer requests for assistance. Should it get fixed? I will not thank you. I don't have to thank you for services I have paid for...I'm not going to.

-Yes, I've checked to make sure my ISP isn't the cause.
-Yes, I've checked to make sure my computer set-up isn't the cause.

I would appreciate your prompt attention.

The 'bandwidth' issue I am unfamiliar with, and without knowing too much about it, seems kind of odd that they could guarantee more to anyone. But I'll agree that the site does seem a little slower these days.

The ratings issue I believe has something to do with what a work may receive as it's initial rating from the mods. As for any person affecting that rating, the higher your user class, the more influence your vote has, is my understanding. For example, a journeyman's rating of a work may carry more weight than say a citizen's. I would refer you to the sites mission statement and info on WC Access Classes https://www.wincustomize.com/AboutSite.aspx.

Hope this was some help, until someone more knowledgeable comes along. I have had my own issues with the site but have always found help and been able to resolve whatever it was. I hope you can to.

I'm not even going to check back on this post.

Pretty pointless to explain anything then.

The site always breaks and slows down on the weekends (or holidays). Are things in that bad of shape that they require a constant babysitter to behave?

From now on, I'll just keep my thumper handy.

TheGuyPc has some valid points. I remember the bandwidth promise for subscribers. I am not a subscriber but I've paid out for a lot of the products here. Quite some time ago when Icon Packager had a major update it was unusable for maybe a month and a half. I emailed support. Made nasty posts. I even called. To no avail. I recall that there were many customers in the same boat. Finally it was fixed but I couldn't use a product I paid for! There was nothing I could do. Ya can't walk in to the Stardock store and talk to the manager!

See this: WWW Link

This is a good example of failure all around.

Now maybe TheGuyPc should email support instead of posting here if he doesn't want to get made fun of but here are two Stardock employees doing just that. That's failing the community in my book.

I fail to see any "made fun of" by either one that you refer to being "Stardock employees" and for your information (at least at this moment in time) are Administrators on the Wincustomize.com web site and not "Stardock employees".

Hopefully this clears up any misconception on your part.

The web's a really big place. It would seem that anyone as unhappy here as he usually (not always) claims to be could find a site that is better suited to his tastes or political affiliations.........

By the way.. it's still faster than DA..

Ain't that the truth!

He obviously just likes the attention...and you can bet he keeps an close eye on all of his threads. Cheap thrills...he probably should get out more.

If there is no intention of the author to check for a response then this thread has no point, or relevance, and certainly no reason to remain active.

The author has made his 'point', and clearly is NOT asking for responses.

Best we can do is respect his wishes and close it to ensure there will be no valid replies posted.
