im so lost

ok so I've followed the tutorial. did everything it said to do. resize, change to 16 bit, make folder with other boot skins. but I just cant seem to get the darn thing to work. when i try to open it, it says "error could not load bootskin. possible cause is read only boot. or something like that. can anyone please help me with this. AIM is cyberspacemonk3y. im trying to make this for my dads company

ok so im gunna make a copy of the folder, zip it upload, post, and see if you guys can help me figure this out.

Your images are full colour, they should be 16 colours only

Did you reboot to test, since images have different color palettes the colors are distorted at boot up, the preview in bootskin will not show this.

Right click and save the progress bar below, replace yours with it, it has the color palette of the screen image.

Sorry, did not work, PhotoBucket has changed the bitmap to a full color jpg.

ok so i tried it and the color pallet was off. how do i fix that with paint or paint.net cuz besides those all i have is irfanview

Hey XMikeyX, for paint see reply 17, for paint.net, I have not used it for a long time so can't remember if it handles 4 bit images well. Or you can use link in reply 30 and download progress bar that has palette of the screen image that I fixed up for you to use.

well when i tried it on the computer, the whole boot was messed up, the white was blue, the red was black. etc.

good news it worked. and it is saved on his computer. and i tested it out and everything. thanks for the help couldnt have done it without you guys.
