Alienware and Stardock Corporation Partner to Deliver Xenomorph Desktop
Extra Alien-Goodness, Now Without The Probe!
Friday, October 13, 2006 by Zoomba | Discussion: WinCustomize News
Alienware has teamed up with Stardock Corporation, the world’s leading desktop enhancement company, to create the new Xenomorph desktop theme. This theme allows Windows PC users to download and apply a slick new look to their desktop with just a few clicks. Created for Alienware by Stardock Design and powered by Stardock's Theme Manager software, this is the most complete theme ever created for an OEM partner. The Theme includes:
• WindowBlinds Visual Style
• Custom Icon Set
• Wallpaper
• Desktop Gadget RSS Reader (requires a separate download)
• ObjectDock OEM
• Installer and all software needed to transform your desktop.
Xenomorph, the most recent of many themes developed jointly, is available as a free download from the Alienware site at http://www.alienware.com/intro_pages/invader.aspx. Registration is required. This theme can be used by anyone, regardless of whether or not you own Stardock software.
Already own Stardock software? Then you can get the suite right here on WinCustomize:

i guess that the main problem is at the Theme Manager..., maybe not
Maybe not.... because I selectively extracted the contents of the WB skin folder, created a .wba file with them and installed it as a standalone skin via WindowBlinds configuration. For me, Theme Manager isn't an issue as it wasn't used. Too bad about this, eh?!
Not sure what is going on with your systems, because I have used this theme since it was available, with no problems at all.
I love this theme, thanks for sharing it.
...btw, who made it? Great Job

It's my feelling that a "suite" should include all aspects to be complete. OTher than the aforementioned discrepencies
this is on fine looking skin.
The really unfortunate part for me is that I cannot use it for the same reason as Citizen Hapkido,it locked my system up repeatedly. I also tried using it as a standalone for WB5 however this had no real effect. Haven't had this problem before with any other suite and as soon as I switch to another theme the problem is gone, so I know it's not a problem w\my system. I truly hope that someone finds a solution or a workaround for this issue as I would love to use this theme.

I found that "The Preface" by dar0ckx http://www.guichamps.com/skins2006.asp?skinid=620 fits perfectly and is more complete than the included Icon-Package.

I too noticed the IconPackager, but didn't really care because hey it's free.
This is what I needed to know.
Look at all the time I've wasted on doing full packs. Now all I have to do is about 20 or 30.
Hey, it's free right?

I have a new theme I just finished up. Unfortunatly, it has no skin, icons, cursors, dx objects, docks or bars. It is, however, free.
If you want the enhanced theme with no media skin you can send me $1.

How can you say this?
How can you be aggravated with an IconPackage that you didn't pay for, you didn't create, but you obtained for free?
Having the opportunity to download skins provided by some of the best Skinners out there without paying a price is a privilege.

Maybe Alienware didn't want those extra file icons. Maybe they didn't contract to have any more icons skinned then what already was. Maybe there's a more full pack if you purchase an Alienware PC. Maybe these icons are all that both parties agreed to skin.
In the end, I still believe this is a privilege and cannot for the life of me bitch about how many icons come packaged...I mean ultimately why not set the IP standard to 200 icons, that way NOONE will have the right to bitch.

..i would ask to everyone that if you please stop saying that just because it is free we can accept it, because if you continue with this, new skinners wont do complete WB, ip, or any other kind of skin.
-my two cents.

What's in the iconpack looks nice
Does any one remember me saying that? Hello? Is this thing on?
I did not at any time put this iconpack down or complain. I was just stating a personal preference, that I couldn't use it without the file types.
And my second comment was poking fun at the people that were saying I'm complaining over a free pack. For those that know me, know I would never upload half a pack.
Is the iconpack incomplete? Yes.
Am I complaining? No.
Oh, and as for the toolbars not being skinned. How about if we all start uploading WB's without the startmenu being skinned. Then lets see how many people complain over the skin not being finished. If it's a part of windowblinds...skin it. You think about it.

I've been told that the forums at wincustomize are a place where you can speak your mind. Not true. It's only OK if everyone agrees with you.

I'm not bothered that the toolbar icons are not skinned...... I'm bothered that the DEFAULT Windows icons are included as part of the skin. If a skinner doesn't want to bother with the toolbars, no problem, but don't include the defaults ...... we already have those.

As for the icons, If I had to make a guess, was done by Mike (if they were, he got 'dang' good over night) or Ian Black. I might be way off though.
