More bad news.... Peter Brock has died.

Probably Australia's greatest Touring Car driver [winning Bathurst 9 times], Peter Brock has been killed today [Friday 8th of September] in a crash on Day One of a Rally in Western Australia.
As a Race Official for almost 30 years I met him many times. He was a great driver...and a great person.
He will be missed.

Thanks for the pic, Jafo, it's one I'll add to my album of special memories.
I know you had/have a great admiration and respect for Brocky, as do I. Although I never actually got to meet him up close in person (Symmons Plains crowd kept me at bay) my wife was fortunate top have spoken with him for a few moments when he happily autographed her HRT jacket, so we do have something personal to remember him by.
She also met and spoke with him again at the George Town leg of the Targa rally, but again I missed out, having traveled to Qld just days before to attend a family funeral.
Gotta leave it there, I'm watching the funeral service, not a good time to be trying to write.

I have never been any good at this, starkers has sumed it up very nicely. Brockie was only too happy to autograph my book and jacket and have a talk , he said to me that its people like us that make his day , and he loved the people ... I'm sorry i cant go on. Rest in peace mate.

About the only photo I managed to get 'right'....
