Well...as a good Stillwater's apprentice I Love clasic skins....sooo...this is my Top 5 1 ~ Bunker (Did You See The Volume And The Paning Animations?? Awesome!!Very Well Themed And Also Nice Textures...PERFECT Skin!) 2 ~ Plastic (another Demostration Of Good Animations And Style) 3 ~ Enkera (I'm Also A 883 Fan HEHE LOL But I Liked More His classic skins... Anyway...Enkera Seems Pretty CreativE And Also Has 883's Style so...Third Place Goes To 883 enkera) 4 ~ D-Reliction (Theres No Chance For Classic Skins Here... I Loved This Skin...The Visualitions A Great And Also The Skin Itself Looks Pretty Smooth..Easy To use LOL) 5 ~ Cardium II (It Looks Good To Me HEHE...No Doubt About It...) Well... Hope To See Any Classic Skin Wining Sometime... I Loved Triying To Participate On This Competition...But It Looks Like That Ass Long As I Dont Know How To CODE A Modern Skin...I Would Not Win Anything Here ... Anyway...This Was MY Best Skin... See Ya Folks! El*ArGeNtO *LOL*

hm... argento... just make a nice modern design and post it on the forums, you'll find a coder for it see vag. he doesn't know maki-coding as well, but he made the gfx and i did the coding... about wa2-skin winners... i don't think (and hope) that will happen. making a good wa2 sure isn't easy, but making a GOOD modern skin is much more difficult plus much more interesting, so all my choices actually go for modern skins.

Sure, making a modern skin is probably more time-consuming and difficult. But don't underestimate the different skills that are required to make a good classic skin. For example, I've seen quite a few modern skins which look fantastic...until you open the PL or ML windows. Those windows have more limitations, and it takes different skills to be able to work with limitations like that successfully. Skills which a good classic skinner has developed, but not ever modern skinner has. But for me, the main reason I think it's a shame that classic skins haven't won anything is that it's not totally representative of winamp users in general. Many (not all, and probably not most, but many) users predominantly prefer to use classic skins - so it's a shame to see them get so little recognition in these olympics. It's kind of like DesktopX vs. Windowblinds. DesktopX is freeform, and many very interesting things can be done with it, but a great deal of users simply don't want their windows to be so freeform. Hence, windowblinds is so popular. Yet no one disses the windowblinds skins for all being so structurally similar and not being freeform.

Yeah! I thought about that, too! But it was when the fight was going on and I said to my self To my self, I said Drop it! Your goin' nowhere in this discussion! But it's just what it need! One for classic and one for Modern!

yep, that would be cool. two categorys. sure it's difficult to make a good classic skin, i already said that. but i also said, it's much more difficult to make a GOOD modern skin... and in my eyes a modern skin is just good when EVERYTHING fits together and the components are nice, too. that's why i was first a bit stunned when i got the gfx for h2os components, as i didn't fit together with the other gfx of the skin at the first look, but then i realised that it's fitting perfect to the concept of the skin, so i like it

Yes, but my point is that skinning within limitations creates unique difficulties of its own. Modern skinners have to face these types of difficulties with the PL and ML windows, but classic skinners have to face them with every window - and the main window is by far the trickiest. Freeform skinners, as the name states, have much more freedom. Hence, in some respects (not all, but some) they actually have a much easier task than classic skinners. That is why I totally disagree that you can make a sweeping statement like "making a good modern skin is much more difficult". Because while there are difficulties which a modern skinner must face that a classic skinner doesn't, there are also many difficulties which a classic skinner has to face but a modern skinner doesn't.

yer skinning modern skins and classic skins is hella different, both take different talents gfx wise. as stillwater has said. i think it's very possible for a classic skinner to try a modern skin and not know what to do/how to use the new ability so it can come out crap. and same vice-versa

sure it'S difficult to skin in those limiting borders, BUT you're creating your own and always different borders in every modern skin, what makes it also different, PLUS you mustn't forget that there's no coding necessary for classic, what's the most different part on good modern skins. i dunno, but i think you also don't have to write anything for your components, what's also very difficult.
