HD Sata and HD IDE.., could they work...?
Wednesday, August 16, 2006 by TYCUS | Discussion: Hard Drives
i'm about to buy a new sata HD, but i already have two HD with connection IDE(you know.., the normal slow HD, with the big cable that says master and slave), and i was asking my self that if it is possible to have a sata HD and a IDE HD at the same time in the same computer? how does the CPU will know which one is the slave and which one the master HD? and about this Sata HD, it's a good speed 7200 of buffer(becouse i saw one with 10000, but it is way too expensive
)?I need your help before i buy something...
thankx!

Hope that clears it up and helps you Tycus. And yes you can use both though it kind of defeats the purpose of a faster drive [SATA]Acronis.com has a utility [15 or 30 day trial]that will copy your whole system from IDE drive to SATA drive in about 10mins .Works great i used it when i made the jump to SATA and tell ya i will never go back

It's a Intel D865PERL
But how can i make that the Sata HD became the primary hard disk(master) and the Ide HD into the secondary hard disk(slave)?

i also see that kind of HD but the SATA 1 says that has 80GB and the SATA 2 has 120GB.., both of them cost almost the same(dont know why.., SATA 1 cost like $60.9 dollars and the SATA 2 says that it cost $79.9 dollars)...
i'll give the web site, but you will need to translate it with this other site:

You can't have a SATA drive on an IDE channel, or vice-versa, which is what it sounds like you are asking.
