HD Sata and HD IDE.., could they work...?
Wednesday, August 16, 2006 by TYCUS | Discussion: Hard Drives
i'm about to buy a new sata HD, but i already have two HD with connection IDE(you know.., the normal slow HD, with the big cable that says master and slave), and i was asking my self that if it is possible to have a sata HD and a IDE HD at the same time in the same computer? how does the CPU will know which one is the slave and which one the master HD? and about this Sata HD, it's a good speed 7200 of buffer(becouse i saw one with 10000, but it is way too expensive
)?I need your help before i buy something...
thankx!

If you want a great drive get one of these.
Like I said I have four hooked up to the my onboard Intel RAID in a RAID 0 (Striped) configuration.
The hard drive: Link
The motherboard: Link
Needless to say, in a RAID 0 data transfer in incredibly fast.

| and 870gig of drives |
Bah!! 4 X 320GB SATA II = 1.28 TB RAID 0.
That's my file server, my main PC has 2 X 250 GB SATA II. Gots to have lots of space for all my SD apps and skins!!

| And I have trouble filling up my two 160 GB SATA drives! I wouldn't know what to do with all the storage JAFO has. |
And how do you back it up? Storage has outstripped backup medium by far!
