this is pretty cool. I've been playing with it for a few minutes. It's kinda redundant, having Desktop weather max, and rainlendar, and a million other things, but it's a nice little program.

I like it quite a bit. We'll see if I get addicted to it in 30 days. Either way, you have a nice little app here.

I have to agree with RPGFX...it looks like a cool program...but with all the other free programs out there that tells you basically the same things I can't see spending $20 for it.

Yes, there are plenty of (free) programs which provide the same information, but how many of them do it while taking up no space on your desktop and very little in your systray?

Seems to be a problem with the hourly chime, perhaps because I didn't install to the default location:

Windows systray? It's been a long time since I've even seen the old fashioned Windows taskbar and systray.

Well - it looks OK, but it's yet another example of a widget/gadget that can't get out past proxy servers that require authentication. I would LOVE it if all of them (StarDock included) could connect to the internet in exactly whatever way the browser is set up. Sigh...

Hrm. Looks very neat and the design is good, I had a very good first impression!
Unfortunatly... after having it running for a few days, even with all the nice skins, the good feeling started to wear off as I recognized that it seemed more difficult to actually....well, tell what time it is, the original purpose of the 'clock area'. With all the numbers and images and etc jammed into that corner, instead of just a simple clock, I almost feel that the simplicity that was there was ruined. Also, while its neat to see what the weather is now, and maybe even the 5-day (not sure how that would look?) if I was a registered user, it doesn't seem to be something that one would need to have filling space in their already-busy taskbar...unless you're a person who has sudden urges to know the temperature that can't be filled by going to the desktop or pressing a hotkey. Then again my laptop is by a window so I might be out of touch with someone stuck more central-indoors!

I'm currently using the HerbRemix skin, and I can't see how it could be any easier to read the time. The date and the day are a little small, but the temperature and time are clear and easy to read.
I do have other issues with the program, though:
1. It won't play any sounds at all here. I speculated above that it was because of my install location. But after playing with it some more, it's finding the sounds; it just can't play them.
2. Along those same lines, why is there an MP3 folder inside the Sounds folder, with the same exact files?
3. The shortest update for weather is 30 minutes. I'd like it to update more often, but maybe that's a limitation of the weather server they're using. Not a deal breaker in any case.
4. Although it recongizes my town from the zip code, for some reason it chooses to report the weather from a smaller neighboring town. This results in pretty good size differences from WeatherBug, which among its many weather stations in my town, has one right down the street.

I agree with others that it's a bit overpriced. Perhaps if it was more polished, I still might pay the $20, simply because I'm in love with the concept. But in its current state, no way.

I agree with most of the issues stated above, nice, but questionable at $20.00. I do have one other nagging question. I see that it will allow a free license if you have a link on your website. Their page says it will work until you take the link down. Does that mean it is communicating with a server, other than the weather server, without my knowledge? If it is, what is it communicating? If it is not, how does it stop working when the link is taken down? I was not planning to use the link method, it just struck me as "How does it know when to stop working without having communication with the author's server?" Any software that communicates with an unknown server without very clear information stating it will and how, is suspect right out of the gate for me.

This is a piece of S#@t...I loaded it and nothing shows in the taskbar but it does chime on the hour...big deal! Oh, and everytime I bootup it reminds me that I owe them $20 bucks so I will be uninstalling this one...

Not worth the $20, I Live in Oklahoma and NEED weather radar!! It's cute, though not worth the money at all. The skins are nice, however it doesn't update enough and there is no info from it that I need.

I use the weather channel's desktop weather max. It's a nice weather proggy. I've tried this thingy, but certainly will not be paying 20 bucks to keep it. I don't know that I would pay 5 bucks. It would be a nice free program, but nothing worth paying for.

While I agree with some others that $20 seems a bit much for myself to buy this program, I don't think it's right to demand that it be free either. If it were a $5 or $10 program I might actually pay for it. $20 does seem a bit too high, but not everyone should work for free.
