You don't have to edit the registry....once VTP is uninstalled, Ccleaner will safely remove the residual VTP entries which are left behind. All you do is scan for issues and the cleaner will remove them, with an option to backup these removed files, should you need to restore them. I'm not tech savvy and use it all the time to remove redundant reg entries, no problems.

Possibly a Sytem Restore to before installing the transformation pack could help also.
