do you have any antivirus or antispy stuff running that may not allow the wbload.exe to run unless authorized?

Currently, no. This is a pretty clean XP, I haven't gotten around to installing all bells and whistles yet. Was trying to get windowblinds to work first. Tried uninstalling everything i was playing around with in object desktop, still the same problem. Also tried WB 4, with the same result sadly..

Any other ideas as to what might be causing this?

firewall?

I've seen some posts concerning firewalls blocking the activation.

1. IT APPLIES WINDOWS CLASSIC SKIN IN YOUR PANEL OF SUBJECTS

2. GO To C: \PROGAM FILES \ STARDOCK \ OBJECTDOCK \ WINDOWSBLINDS...

And IT LOOKS FOR The FILE..."WBINSTALL32.EXE "" LAUNCH And WAITS 10 SECONDS.

To CONTINUATION IT LAUNCH The FILE. "WBCONFIG.EXE "APPLIES A SKIN WHIT WINDOWSBLIND 5 And REBOOT.

ALL IT MUST TO YOU WORK WELL REMEMBERS,,
> WBINSTALL32.EXE "> 10 SECONDS > WBCONFIG.EXE "> APPLIES SKIN And REBOOT....

(NOTE: THIS PASSES IN SYSTEMS 32 BITS. SINCE MANY COMPONENTS OF WINDOWSBLINDS ARE FOR X86....BUT IF BEAMS WHICH I SAY TO YOU WORK TO YOU WELL.....Unless YOU DO NOT HAVE -....

WBINSTALL32.EXE ""

I don't have a file called WBinstall32.exe, only WBinstall64.exe

Would it work if i ran WBinstall64.exe instead?

Ok, so my problem is that I'm running the 64 bit version af Windowblinds, am i correct?

Where do i choose which one i install? I have been looking around, and i can't an option to download the 32 bit version instead. Did i miss something when i bought objectdesktop?

I don't really understand the last thing you were trying to say. Maybe it was a bad babelfish translation. But still, thanks, any help is appreciated

he is saying if you are running XP 64BIT OS then you need ODesktop 64 and if you have regular XP 32bit like the rest of us you need odesktop 32bit you need to find out which version of XP you have

My OS is just basic XP home, 32 bit. Yet everytime i install Windowblinds from Stardock Central, it installs the 64 bit version. Am I missing something here? Why does SDC it think i need the 64 bit version?

How do i make it download the 32 bit version of Windowblinds?

And BIODIGITZMAN, I can't download from Rapidshare, it says I used up my limit . Very wierd site..

Please don't link to Stardock files that you've pulled out of builds or were provided privately.

The WindowBlinds 5.01 release this week is going to include the WBInstall32.exe file (poor naming choice, but live with it) to provide an alternative for people having problems. Some antivirus/antispyware vendors are blocking the registry changes to allow WB to load on startup. If that happens, wbconfig will prompt you to enable the alternate method (which will load wbinstall32 from a Run key).

Have you tried updating to any of the pre releases of WB via SDC?
There's another one out today.

Tried it and it didn't work, sadly, eventhough the pre-release version had a WBInstall32.exe file..

I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope the final WB 5.01 release will fix the problem.

But why didn't i have the WBInstall32.exe file to begin with? Appaerently I am running the 64 bit version. Doesn't anybody know how i can download the 32 bit version instead? And why SDC defaults to installing the 64 bit release?

I don't see an option in SDC, but when I look in here: C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds I see both exe's.

But apart from having a WBInstall64.exe, most of my .dll files also end i 64. wblind64.dll, wbload64.dll, wbhelp64.dll etc.

If it was the 32 bit version, wouldn't i have the 32 equivalent to those?

There must be some way for me to install the 32 bit version..
