Hey, Yangge,
I'm one of your biggest fans, but this one took me a minute to figure out.
I finally realized that it's because there's no real distinction (in colors) between the outside and the inside of the mailbox. Even a little shininess around the lip of the door-opening might give it a bit of an "outline" effect to help the eye distinguish what's going on.
