Sorry Skinhit for the bad comment for your "outlook emboss" Icon... 
LEARN BY DOING 
Look at all the Icons here on Wincustomize, many of these Icons have some Effects like plastic/gloss or metal - try to copy these Effects. I made all my Icons in PS too
