Desktop Aquarium

questions before I buy

Wednesday, January 25, 2006 by notmuffy | Discussion: Stardock Support General

Hi everyone,
I am interested in buying Desktop Aquarium but I heard there were a couple bugs in it. Someone told me that every time he starts the computer the aquarium starts in its default setting. It doesn't remember that he changed the background, how many fish he added, etc. And some splash screen always comes on every startup and he has to close it, too. If it doesn't remember your settings, I don't want to spend the money.
One more question - if I buy it, can I install it on 2 computers - example, my home computer and my work computer? Thanks for any info@!

FYI - I answered my own question #2 about installing it twice. Since there is no search fuction on this forum, go here Link to read about installing windowblinds on more than 1 PC.

still looking for an answer on the "doesn't remember your settings" question though!

GRRRR!!!
No, it does not! I just bought it.

I am using regular ol' Windows XP Home edition, SP2.
everytime I start there is that "Welcome' screen, and the default background & fish.
I even splurged for the extra fishpack... there is no way I am going to spend 10 minutes every day setting up my stupid wallpaper.

I sent a support ticket, maybe they can help me, or maybe offer me free upgrades if they can't.

I afraid that I've never been able to get it to work right on my machine. It does not save my settings, nor does it let me remove items once I place them on the screen. See prior thread

Sorry to say I never took the time to post a support ticket as I only use it occasionally

Try the box labeled "Browse Site" on the left side of the page with the banner which says "Search" That's how I came upon the above link.

Same issues with Desktop pet. I blame it on the desktopX framework . . . and await a new build.
