Loss and existentialism

I lost my prescription sunglasses today...
Or did I?
The last time I can remember having them was Saturday night....[it's Monday arvo here, now]...
So...
Perhaps I lost them on Saturday night....
But...
Since I did not 'find' them missing till today...
Did I only JUST lose them?
Either way, I'm peeved....as they were expensive...I don't have a condition that enables those $2 while-you-wait junky things to do any good.
Jafo says goodbye to AUD $400. Only saving grace was the prescription is out of date....but the $180 frames were still perfectly usable....

Not just existential-- this concept is the basis for Cognitive Psychology, the question being whether feelings arise from reality or from what we think is real? Leads to the question of whether actions arise from feelings or thoughts? &tc...
Maybe you will 'find' them found before you have to get new ones

Hope so....as in 'J.A.F.O'...the 'O' means 'Observer'...and that's my job in FIA and FIM....and the World Superbikes is on in a few weeks...and the GrandPrix in 2 months. The frustrating thing is that my next 'official' duty is at the Historic Bike Racing this coming weekend....height of summer and no 'proper' sunnies....

You could always wear a pair of "clip ons" over some regular prescription glasses. You might also need some heavier than normal duty ear plugs to block out the sounds of laughter.

....usually in the 'most' least obvious place. As for The Jafo thing, Gef, I was curious about this, to begin with...thinking perhaps the letters were possibly the wrong way around....as in, meant to be JOAF (Just Another Old fart)
I realise now, given his penchant for spelling correctness, etc, that in fact it is.....JAFO (Jargonist And Fairly Obvious)

| Jafo....just stop looking for/thinking about them, believe me it works....miraculously they'll reappear when you're looking for something else |
Well....dunno about that...but they turned up.....brother inlaw had them...[we went to the wedding and back in his car]...good thing too....'cos I ended up 'tired and emotional' as you do after several beers and red wines....not to mention 42.4 degree heat and a black 3-piece wool suit....

3 dead, so far....probably not the last...as it will be 40 plus again by Thursday....and thousands of sheep, cattle, etc, as always....couple 'a houses....
California and Victoria share one particular thing....bushfires....they are the world's 2 worst places for them....dunno if we have Elvis here again [we share 'him', too]....[I know the local 'crew' who acts as spotter]...if he's not at the bike racing I'll know what he's doing.
Seems at least one of them was deliberately lit....
Time to classify arson as 'terrorism' and just shoot the buggers....

Too right, Jafo! When I lived in the suburb of Mayfied in Launceston, a group of delinquents with nothing better to do lit a fire just about every day....most often it was in bushland quite close to housing, therefore always treated very seriously so as to prevent property damage....
However the little bastards got bored with just setting the bush ablaze....setting fire to a car in the driveway of a vacant house opposite mine. The car was a write off and damage to the house/nearby properties ran into $200.000 plus...essentially, the culprits were given just a slap on the wrist and were lighting fires within a couple of days. Only when one was trapped and egulfed by flames did the lunacy cease....in Mayfield.
Perhaps if a few more arsonist got cremated on the job......
BTW...glad you found your sunglasses

| [WebGizmos] Glad you found them Jafo...I wear glasses as well and I know how it is when you lose them. I found mine on my face once. |
