Inappropriate comments and their removal
The way to go about it.

Frequently a skin will attract 'the idiot element' and receive comments one would 'rather not' have.
With the size of the site it's nigh-on impossible for an admin to catch all of them in a timely fashion...so the trick is to email an admin/moderator for 'aisle cleanup', or if all else fails a quick 'request' for same on the Forum or IRC.
Once 'dealt with' the forum thread can be removed as well....problem solved.
What is less than 'successful' is to engage in boisterous banter with the 'problem' person as that only attracts more unwanted comment.
Some are definitely less adept at snuffing out these issues and actually do more harm than good.
Like grafitti, it's best 'cleaned' promptly....

ShantyTowne ...checked yours...from the email...and it was not 'actionable'...that is it was not actually insulting or a personal attack, so it remained. We do not clear-fell or run rough-shod over people's comments. They 'need' to deserve removal.

scion2412 ...sometimes the best intentions do not result in the best actions. You're not the only one 'passionate' about this community....it's essentially the driving force behind most here...from Frogboy all the way down to the 'newbie' who sets Wincustomize as his home page...
dj_cityboy ... grafitti is not even a modern artform....check your history books.
It's as old as tattooing...however the BIG DIFFERENCE is tattooing is usually how can we call it....COMMISSIONED BY THE OWNER OF THE SKIN.
Grafitti is simply culturally-explained urban degradation and MOST [not all] is NOT sanctioned by the owner of the 'skin' aka property/building.
Unlike other forms of 'art', shitloads of money is spent removing grafitti...hardly an indicator that it is actually endorsed or appreciated.
None of this means there are no skillful users of spraycans out there destroying private property at the owner's expense. There are....some.
There also probably are skillful burglars and thieves out there too...plying their trade.
Doesn't make it right, though.

If all coments were like comment number 3, then I'd look seriously into re-evaluating my work and contribution to the community. However, I consider this negative comment a mere interuption. Nothing more.

ShantyTowne ...I think you are totally oblivious to the 'quality' of comments some people do receive...that warrants their removal. Those you mention are tame....and the 'low Q' one is quite accurate. There is a world of images to plagiarise out there for bootskins....and it is better to find ones that DO dither to 4bit well.
I believe you have 'another' task to complete. It would be 'best' to deal with that one first rather than attempt to have me 'go figure'....

Please pardon me, and clue me in to my uncompleted task least it can be finished.
Also, about five weeks ago I got pissed and deleted a large portion of my library. I tried to put them back on, all on the same day. This amount of uploads grabbed your attention as a "Sea" of uploads and you didn't put half of them back in. Also, now you request that I put the links of origin with my uploads now.
How come it's not required from everyone else? My sweet Jesus man, you make me feel like an outcast. In fact, looking at all of the most recent bootskin arrivals(all with no links inserted) makes me feel targeted by your administration.
Well, hope I didn't get you all fired up.
And around these parts,"go figure" means to merely think about it for a spell. No disrespect intended, sir. Actually, I think you're sort of "cool" with your command of the English language.

The 'apology' needs to be to each and every person whose works were impacted upon.

ShantyTowne ...the issue is that you are supposed to rate works with a considered opinion, and NOT to blanket-rate them '1' OR '3' OR even '5', for that matter.
Either way you affect them all inappropriately.
This is not about being 'more than happy to comply', it's about doing the RIGHT thing from the outset.
Whatever, this is NOT the place for your soul-seeking. Email is the appropriate medium.
This thread is actually about "comment removal", so let's get back on topic.

I agree. Especially when they are leaving comments like 'I would never download this garbage, etc'. At the very least they should have to download it in order to comment. Now if we could figure out how to booby-trap the download should they leave some smart azz comment...
