Problems with toolbars in Skin Studio 5.0.0

Some sort of mask?

Friday, January 13, 2006 by NetBadger | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I'm not a Windowblinds expert at all. This is only my second windowblind. I'm having trouble with all of the toolbars. I wanted to create my own unique set of toolbar icons. I found out by trial and error, that it is best to have both the main version and the hot version exactly the same. I'm using 32bit TGA files and the recommended default file names. I've used a black background on the TGA files as they were in the default images. As you can see from the picture below, there are some borders/masks/shapes that match the default icons, some are just square, others I'm totally baffled by. Any ideas on what is causing this, and how to fix it? BTW, these aren't the final version of the icons, but I don't want to go any further until I can resolve this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, NetBadger

What happens if you save the images as .png images and import them into Skinstudio?
I am guessing there is a problem when you save the .tga files.

Well Night Train, that got me a lot closer. Now they don't have weird mask shapes around the new icons, but they have a single pixel underline. The explorer underline isn't larger as it appears in the graphic example. That was just an artifact of resizing the image to fit here. When you mouse over the buttons, there is a box border around the image in gray. This is liveable, but if anyone has an idea of what I'm doing wrong, I'd like to have the button background show through the whole button, not just a box around the icon.

Thanks again for any help!

What size are your images?

I started out using the exact same size as the originals, which was 24x24 pixels per icon. After trying your suggestion of importing the images, skin studio created icons that were 25 pixels high, but still 24 pixels wide. For the small version, I just put in 16 pixels for the height, and kept the same aspect ratio.

The first time I went from 24 to 25 pixels high, there were no lines under the explorer set, but it came back the next time. I also tried using TGA with a clear background. When I tried doing PNG with a clear background, I had to flatten the layers and it went white.

What I am using now is the same gray as the buttons to surround each icon.

More info than you asked for, but I thought it might save some questions down the line.
