NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Just dowgraded my drivers to 77.77.
My issue... Link

Downgrading didn't fix the issue, so I don't use Windowblinds anymore.

I've got a pretty good list so far.

Any info about cards that work but don't support all the features (per-pixel) or cards that just flat out don't work will be helpful also.

Again, thanks for the great response!

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 256MB AGP @ 8x, ForceWare 81.98
I haven't noticed any problems with this one;

ThinkPad (PII) w/8mb shared video
Neomagic MagicGraph 256AV driver
No per-pixel support: works with high CPU usage, without per-pixel on in WBConfig: no glitches at all.

Reiterate:

ThinkPad:
with per-pixel enabled in WBConfig-high CPU usage, flickering startmenu when opened.
with per-pixel disabled in WBConfig-no glitches, problems or troubles. Odd, it's quite old and works so well...

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128MB ForceWare 81.98 drivers.
Only problem I've noticed is that when changing from any skin to a skin designed for WB5, sometimes I have to apply it twice because it does not load entire skin the 1st time.

So far the past few days, the only people having problems seem to have the Ge force 6600.

Liquidguru, does your Radeon IGP 320M allow you to have working transparent title-bars?

Hi, Slight disagreement with Wizop Corky O about Ati Radeon X700 Pro (256 mb DDR3)running any of the 5.1x drivers.

Full transparency - no problems but at near full transparency the start menu with many skins often shows black or a base colour when you highlight Log Off, Turn Off, All Programs or any of the menu items on the Start Menu. Once you get to the actual Program Items off the All programs menu the highlighted items display correctly.

Need to apply some skins twice to get entire skin to load.
Start Menu retains ghost image of previous wallpaper or sometimes the last open window that it opened above.

This card also has issues using the DVI output rather than the Analogue output with some Flat Panel monitors. Best just to use Analogue.

Lastly (and I am trying to be helpful) I've had 2 huge WINXP SP2 crashes within the last 6 months where on boot the error is that Explorer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. In each case there were 72 faulting modules and they were every important system DLL Windows needs to run. My conclusion is that WB5 ain't real happy with something as this never occured before WB5 or when using WB4. As I'm tired of reinstalling Windows I'm not game to try WB5 again. I may give WB4 a go given the different implementation of how it applies skins.
I am really disappointed as I just hate the default desktop.

ATI Radeon 7500
Everything that uses per-pixel works fine except for the titlebars and borders which will not become translucent

Agreed on the 5.1x drivers.......therefore the 5.9 drivers only.

It seems like ATI has focused on their X1300, X1600, and X1800 series - in essence, leaving the X600 and X700 behind...

I have seen ghosting with the new drivers and 'Luna' also - so it would seem to be a driver issue instead of WB issue.

I liked WB5 when it was using the ODBC source instead of the newer ".ini" set-up. I am not sure why, other than what seemed to be a smoother integration with the OS...

Thanks for all the reports, everyone!

I'll put all this together and post an article so it's easy to get the info.

If anyone else has anything to add, please do so. The more info the better!

( no per pixel support )
hp pavillion mx70 on Intel(r)82810 Graphics Controller
Driver: 5.1.2001.0

Driver isnt the newest but Im afraid to mess with this at this point. I had not had any problems up until last night .
I removed my post from the thread on crack version of WB and I'll toss it here only cause I dont know what to do with it at this point. Everything seems fine today so hopefully was just a strange event. But I'd like to be able to post the error info but not sure where to get info from at times.

This was from other thread:

"Corky_O: As has been requested since the first beta release, please post the text from the "System Information" report generated in WB Config. panel when posting an issue - to assist anyone in helping you."

I'd like to be able to post better info but the problem I had last night appeared out of nowhere. I'm baffled as to what preceeded or caused this problem but last night I simply rebooted..left the room and when I returned I saw that I had no Window blind up...yet my Right Click menu was the skinned version of the Christmas blind I had been using for 2 weeks. I looked in system tray and the WB config was gone. I went to the " display " to reapply blinds. Everything appeared to be there yet, each time I applied the blind or any blind I repeatedly got a windows error message that WB Config .exe needs to close " Send report " or " close "

I tried a system restore...it did nothing to fix problem...I reinstalled windows blind from Stardock Central and it appears to be fixed at this time. But I had been using that version of WB 5 for weeks without a problem..

Fairyy,

Based on the described behavior, I would guess that WB config ran into a road block when it tried to load - and had either invoked an error, or was still trying to load (or read a file to allow correct loading).

Some programs seem to generate errors on start-up if another program either takes it's sweet time loading, or perhaps an update checker is using CPU cycles during start-up and creates issues.

Certainly not worried about your legitimacy as a WB owner/user.
