Wednesday, December 28, 2005 by lepew1 | Discussion: New Users

I'm a new user, so here goes.
I am using wb5, and every time I shut down then restart my computer with wb5 active my taskbar,"Start button, and quick launch Icons go black!" But if I open up wb5 and switch my theme to classic style first, then I can choose any theme I want and then it loads just fine! Please Help

"Just sharing a thought"
I didn't have good luck with AVG, and I hate to add, our Church computer was also using AVG and got a BAD virus! Killed the HD and half the mobo... But if it works for you "It's ALL good!"

P.S. Am "VERY" thankful for all the help!!!

I just upgraded to Panda Platinum 2006 today. Latest ver. of WB was already installed. Same problems everyone else is having now. I wasn't able to get it to work until I uninstalled v.5 and restored v.4.68.xx, and of course everything worked fine then. I am here right now because I've installed/uninstalled at least five times and decided to look here for some help. Found the logoff/login suggestion here and that worked for me as well. Pain in the butt, but it worked.

Only reason I'm posting here now is because I've read through this thread, the thread y'all linked to above, and a whole bunch of similar threads in the WC Forums, and still no definitive answer to this specific problem can be found. Considering that this thread was opened on 12/28/05, almost two weeks ago, it appears this "Help Forum" or "Support," whatever, doesn't work any better than WB 5 does if you use Panda. This is really frustrating and a lot to go through for nothing more than eye-candy. Great eye-candy, yes, but that's all WB really does.

My subscription to OD (active for aprox. 3 years without interruption) comes due in March. If I'm still having to longoff/login to get it to work, I will not be renewing this year or anytime in the future. I will put this thread on my Watch List and see if Stardock comes up with a solution before March. That's a whole lot longer than it should take though.

I know this isnt a ideal solution, but i found if i put a password on my windows user account i dont have this problem.
I use panda too and was having the exact same issue, but i noticed when i had a second account on my machine and actually had to login to mine, i didnt have the problem.

As i say, not a ideal solution and maybe a little annoying but its less annoying than reloading WindowBlinds everytime i reboot my pc.

This thread is not in Stardock Support, it is in the category "General-New Users". Maybe, try submitting in Stardock forum. Or even email Stardock. Not many peruse the General forum for support. I hope you have luck.
