I'd like to know how to make a bootskin without the black progress bar background. Mine always turns black on the first pass, and i'm using the exact same 16 color pallettes in paint. This has been asked many times and there is never an answer, it frustrates me since I know it can be done.

The color in palette slot zero will be the color of the prog bar (and on my machine a border around the image on reboot also...). MSPaint, as far as I know, will always put black there, even if you don't really use it.

My Bootskin Buddy gadget has some palette editing tools you may find useful for setting slot zero. http://desktopgadgets.com/ViewGadget.aspx?GadgetID=52

Thanks for the reply. Looking at the pallette with a different program after saving it in paint did not show black in any of the used slots, however, it did show a color I had not used, changing the background color slightly with the program(irfanview, excellent image program, not a whole lot of bloat) fixed the problem, dunno what paint is doing, but it isn't right.
