Friday, December 16, 2005 by IncomingF5 | Discussion: WindowBlinds

I get windows classic just with the colors the skin would have been. Windowblinds isnt even in my taskbar by my time. I dont know what happened to it. One day it works fine next day no dice.

What is the version of WB you are using (build #) .. is it paid or demo??? .. And please copy data from SystemInformation tab of WBConfig window (from where you install themes) plus a little information about your system specs will be very helpful ..

Regards

Im using the newest one paid.

But I got to hit apply changes for the taskbar and all the to show up like the skin.

I got to hit apply skin then apply changes on the left side.

I dont know why but that is how it is. I might reinstall later to see if it fixes it though.

Those apply options do the same thing so it should make no difference which one you click on.

I have a similar problem. WB is properly installed but I can't get it to load in my systray. Everything is registered so I should be getting my money's worth... The problem I have is my skin is set in Windows Classic Mode and I hit apply skin but nothing happens. I tried installing skins from the site but no go.

Try reinstalling WB anyway. Mine went borked when it claimed to be installed correctly, but when I reinstalled it all was fine.

I found that unloading and reloading Windows Blinds works, but of course it's annoying to do that every time I start my computer.

If you have WB5 installed, and had WB 4.6 before: uninstall all versions, making a back-up of any skins you've downloaded. Then, after all versions are uninstalled, reinstall WB5.

I just bought ODNT based on their good history and had the problem of getting the classic style as soon as I installed WB5. I've been reading thru the forums and while I found others with a similar problem, none had a fix. I finally fixed mine so maybe it will help others.

I had the latest ATI drivers loaded, 5.13, for the Radeon series. I decided to roll back to an earlier driver as I had had issues with the DotNetMessenger window error coming up on shutdown and it was related to the 5.13 drivers I found out. I decided to reinstalled the 5.11 drives to see if it fixed both problems and WB5 started working just fine. I am now able to apply skins and I no longer get lockups or just the classic theme. It appears to be a compatiblity issue between the 5.13 drivers from ATI & WB5.

FYI.

I have the same problem, WB4 works fine, i've uninstalled it completely. WB5 is just not loading skins, leaving my system as before, boring.

WindowBlinds 5.0 System Information Report:

STATUS : WB+ SRV+ HLP+ UI+ TRAY+

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC.

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine does not support per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

This is because :

Your computer graphics hardware does not support acceleration of per pixel alpha. WindowBlinds requires this for per pixel alphablended borders as without it performance would be poor. Please see if you can obtain new drivers for your graphics hardware. Recent ATI & NVIDIA boards should support this feature. Onboard graphics tend not to.

You have one monitor in total.

Wbsrv.dll 2005/12/20 22:57:44
Wbconfig.exe 2005/12/05 18:42:52

It always used to work.
[Oh and I've ticked "Never use per-pixel borders on a skin" box, so that's not a problem.]

sorry to bump this, but i'm getting very frustrated with WB.  after searching thru the whole WB area, i've tried every fix to pretty much every problem and nothing has worked.  my specs are the same as above.
