I have Cancer...

Thursday, December 8, 2005 by jarget | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Some of you might know me via this website and some might not. I don't mean to bring everybody down but I need to vent. I was diagnosed with cancer in the rectum and liver back in May of this year. I finished my Chemo Therapy 3 weeks ago. All the tumors have shrunk to some degree. I'll tell you if any of you have gone through chemo, it's a son of a bitch. I felt extremely tired all the time , I had a bad taste in my mouth that prevented me from tasting food correctly. It was so bad towards the end that for the last month I could only eat Cambells chicken noodle soup and green beans three times a day because that was all I can taste. I was constantly fainting that resulted in bumps and bruises from hitting the floor. I went from weighing 286 lbs to 206 lbs. I feel so sorry for the little kids that have to deal with this.(I see alot of this in the local news)When you're dealt with something like this it changes your life. I've been thinking about what I want to change and improve my life for the better if I get out of this cancer free. I've tried to stay positve, but damn it's real hard to. The scary thing is my Mom died of cancer last year.

The bad news is that my Cancer Doctor told me today that the cancer might have spread to my bones. I go for a bone scan next week to find out for sure.

I don't know where I'll be in a month, year, but I just want to say I've enjoyed reading the forums although I didn't reply alot. Alot of posts made me laugh. Alot funny people out there in Wincustomize Land.

With that said Thanks in advance for reading this and letting me vent my frustrations and pain.

God Bless

You have my sympathies. I've lost a couple of family members to cancer. We have quite a few people at work doing chemo. Besides regular checkups, if any one has any suspicions they need to get checked. My grandfather complained of getting headaches for about 5 yrs before my grandmother finally convinced him to go the the doctor. He was Cajun and stubborn. He found out he had cancer lesions from head to toe.

(when I first starting working where I work, the first day I walked into the building where I was assigned - all these desks were lined up in rows and I saw over on the right = this scraggly looking dude with a scar in the middle of his forehead and 3 women spread out around him wearing the same white scarves over their heads (learned later it was due to chemo) and my first thought was 'damn, they hired Charlie Manson, Squeeky Fromme (sp?) and the others?' = and i was trying to be funny then, i was serious = the dude was a dead ringer.

Stay strong, take care.

I've lost some family members to that ugliness, but also know of people who have had success with Chemo. The drugs are getting better and better. I know that attitude plays a big role, but that is not so easy to do when you feel the way you do. Stay strong, Jarget. Live life the way you want to live it, now. You're in my prayers.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please know that all your friends here at WC will keep you in their prayers. Please keep us informed about your condition and you can vent here anytime
you feel the need. Even though we aren't talking face to face, just putting it in words and knowing many are reading it sometimes helps alot. Take care and keep the faith

Hey Jargot, My prayers will be with you as well. My mother had cancer almost 30 years ago and beat it, my wife's father had cancer and didn't find out soon enough and very sadly died so I know a bit about what you are going through. I have a permanent back injury and have had 7 major surgeries and am in pain for the rest of my life because there is nothing else they can do for me so I do know about pain as well but believe me, keep your faith in our Lord and put your troubles onto Him and if nothing else you will find a huge amount of strength in Him to help you make it through the worst times. I also pray that you will come out of this cancer free and enjoy a long and healthy life and I agree with everybody else, live it now like you think it should be led. God Bless and hope all of the comunique helps out as well.

Having been by my father's side while fighting cancer, along with the medications, "venting" was one of the things that helped with coping. I'm glad you shared your story. I truly hope with good doctoring, and a positive attitude you have a complete recovery. I'll be watching for future posts from you Jarget, do keep in touch.

You'll be in my prayers and I hope your tests come back negative for any additional cancer. Thanks to modern science and new treatments coming along all the time, there's so many more people beating this nowadays. Try to have a positive attitude. If you believe you'll get better and do the things you need too, you will.
