Skinning soap bubbles

We customize everything else, why not soap bubbles? Turns out it's not so easy after all. Bubbles have long been a favorite of kids. But they've always been clear. This article linked below gives some details on why it's so hard to colorize bubbles and how an 11-year quest to color them is bearing some fruit.

My first thought was "Oh, big woop" but I ended up reading the article and WOW! I never would have guessed it would be that difficult to make a coloured bubble. I would have given up way before 11 years of trial and error.

I thought this was going to be the unveiling of some super-duper cool new skinning product by Stardock...but the colored bubble is almost better!! Now you can take pics of them and see them.

Yeah! It does go away, but not as fast as clear ones, apperently. Same time, it's cool to see stains on stuff go away after a little time! 
I tought it was easy to color bubbles too. 11 years wow!!

Thanks, Brad, for the 'News of the Weird'-type article. I would never have read about this or considered it newsworthy or even interesting...just goes to show...11 years and it finally pays off! What a success story! Now I'm gonna go look at mormegils tutorials again, especially the one where he shows how to put 'gloss' on a globe, even with voiceover! My kids' soap bubbles will always remind me of this now. This article's a keeper.

What a wonderful story of tenacity, and a "never-give-up" attitude. To invest eleven years of his lifetime [give or take] into the project, and eventually succeeding ~is truly inspirational.
I hope Tim Kehoe reaps all the rewards [both financially and acclaim-wise] that he rightfully deserves.

I agree with WrecklessEric, an unbelievable story of bringing an idea to realization, how you should never stop trying if you believe in something. Congrats to Tim Kehoe and I can't wait for the bubbles either, I'm sure they will be amazing!!

But it is actually about coloring real-life(!) soap bubbles. A very cool idea, that I'm sure has been thought of many times before, but only these guys had the tenacity to make it happen. The dyes they developed sound incredible; they lose all color except in the special circumstances of being part of a soap bubble. Even black bubles, described as "a favorite of the boys" in the article, will vanish to the same nothingness you expect from a soap bubble when popped. Out next Februrary, I'm sure I'll try them!
